Sushi… in Sweetwater? Yeah, I was skeptical too.
When your friends in a town of less than 7,000 say they’re craving sushi, you smile, nod, and quietly prepare your taste buds for disappointment. But hey—sometimes you just have to roll with it (I’ll see myself out).
We ordered a bunch of rolls to share and… what?! They were actually really good. Super fresh ingredients, rice that was seasoned like someone actually cared, balanced flavors, and that magical combo of creamy, crunchy, and chewy. Honestly, we were impressed—and kind of shocked.
The vibe? Meh. The lighting was doing weird things (don’t blame us if our food photos look like they were taken on Mars). Service was friendly, but here’s the twist: we wanted more sushi, but the chef was apparently tired. At 7pm. On a Thursday. Meanwhile, across the street? People are partying like it’s 1999—dancing, drinking, singing karaoke. That’s some potential sushi business just walking right on by.
Bottom line: weird lighting, sleepy sushi chef, great rolls. For a tiny town? This place punches way...
Read moreI ordered the kokita plate for an appetizer. It has all my favorites on it! Very disappointing! The crab rangoon is something bought and not hand made. It was so overcooked that the filling had come out of it. The satay was so dry shoe leather would have been easier to eat, and it was not like most I had. Good point the gyoza and the spring rolls were good! The mustard sauce smelled like nasty feet and had a peanut butter flavor? I ordered the general tso chicken as my entree. I would not swear to it, but I definitely seemed to be a pre-purchased chicken. However, it was ok. The sauce was not general tso sauce though. It was sweet and sour with a little chili sauce added to it. There was a decent portion of chicken, but as for the broccoli they put with it I might had 3 pieces in total. Overall, very disappointing. I don’t think next time I crave Chinese food I will be going back there! This was a to go...
Read moreI hate giving bad reviews but… Stood at door for 5 minutes waiting to be sat, they had 3 other tables at the time and one waitress… so that’s understandable. Waitress comes to seat us and says wait for sushi is “awhile and that be back to take order” and we agreed that was fine. Took 5-10 minutes to come back and take drink and food order and inform us that the wait for sushi is an hour… we agree to still get sushi and take it to go. Fried rice was not fried, no flavor either. We sat with empty drinks in an empty restaurant. Ordered our hour wait sushi to go and it came on a plate and they handed us boxes instead of the server correcting the chef and boxing it up for us right there. The place was also not very clean. Very dirty floors and they had fish tanks which needed to be cleaned about 2 weeks prior. I am definitely no Karen even though this review sounds like it lol but DONT waste your money. if you want good hibachi go...
