I love a good “hole in the wall” restaurant that can throw out some delicious food and drinks whilst keeping true to it’s roots- whether bar food or fried greasy spoon. So, I ventured down the street to the local Mexican fare that seems to be a hole in the wall establishment. Was the red carpet rolled out for us? No, and we weren’t expecting it. Was the place a beacon of cleanliness? No, but that’s part of the hole in wall experience. Was the food piping hot and fresh? Also no. However, the margaritas were good and the food mediocre at best. The salsa for the chips was tasty and my husbands street style tacos looked pretty good. My quesadilla was “ehh” with dried out shredded chicken and a tad of queso to the side when I was under the impression it would be “topped with queso” however that seemed to be a miss. My husband ordered jalapeños to the side and they were not brought out with his meal yet suddenly appeared when he only had one taco left. We were still up charged for them even though our meal was almost over. The outside patio seemed to be the popular place to sit as there was a separate drink stand with a completely different menu however we sat inside due to a chance of rain. I’ll come back for a margarita but will most likely take my chances on dinner at another...

Service is awful. The server disappeared. Had to get another server to get tortillas. My server buzzed by and left before I could say I needed a box. She didn’t return, but her and the other employees hung out at the cash register talking up a storm ignoring people. Got up and got my own box and they watched me do it. Didn’t get a check so I walked to the register. I asked about the $10 pina colada and the young lady at the registered corrected for pina colada that was really a milkshake. The server started to tell her that price was what she was told. Then I asked about the owner and she said that she and her parents were the owners. I informed her the food was good but the service was not. She politely asked what they could do and as I tried to speak the server kept running her mouth talking over me. I’m a polite person and I tip even for bad service because they obviously need it more than me, but how an owner can stand there as the server argues with a customer who isn’t speaking to them is beyond me. Terrible. Terrible. They need...

Ordered to-go:

  1. sirloin fajitas with no peppers
  2. vegetarian taco salad
  3. Mexican guacamole
  4. kids combo #1, Sprite to drink

Husband went to pickup and didn't realize the Sprite was missing until he got back. Also realized we spent around $10 and some change more (including tax). Called to figure out why and the employees claimed it was because their menu prices have raised due to the pandemic. I stated that their website has the menu up with the prices listed and that they're not the only ones affected by the coronavirus- we're on a budget as well. When I said that they should honor their online price, the gentleman said he'd talk to his supervisor to have the menu updated online. Took our name but did not offer any kind of recourse. Food was tasty, but salty.

$10 is a small price to pay for keeping customers. Be upfront with them, don't place the...

Been trying all the Latino resturants around Athens and this time we ventured up to Sweetwater after visiting the Englewood Farmers Market. The Vegetarian dishes are absolutely delicious and I think even a meat eater would love them. My son got the "Create your Own Combo" and got a chicken chimichanga and a tamal. He said they were really good as well. The rice and beans that accompanied the dishes weren't just your bland, typical sides. They were well seasoned and delicious. They also have a salsa bar!. The place is kind of a little dive type of place but don't let that fool you, it's better than most places you've been to. I guarantee it.

The food was quite bland( I've been to Mexico 3 times). The beef was very dry and tasted like chopped leftover hamburgers. The beans had little to no flavor until you found a lone onion. The drinks were good though. My daughter ordered a regular Sangeria ( which according to the menu was made with red wine), was brought the Peach Sangeria, when she questioned it the waiter told her that was the regular Sangeria.😳
