Was so excited to try out this place but was really disappointed. We ordered the oysters and 1 oysters Rockefeller which was so good!! But then we waited for over an hour for our chicken and salmon with two sides. The chicken was completely raw and I got my salmon 10 minutes after the chicken which already took an hour. The two sides I ordered was corn and fingerling potatoes. I ended up getting a veggie medley and then it took another 5 minutes for them to bring the actual sides I ordered. The fingerling potatoes were so undercooked I couldn’t even bite into it and the corn was so overdone that it tasted like mush. I know this is a new restaurant so I’m really hoping it was just a bad night as they are getting their footing. When we got there we saw another table complaining left and right about everything and we realllyyy were hoping we wouldn’t have the same experience. Bummed to say the least but would love to still try...
Read moreWe were super excited to try Live Bait. Unfortunately, we left very disappointed and hungry. I had the flounder piccata, my brother ordered the fish and chips, and my fiance ordered the chicken parm from the wood fire oven side. My fish came with 2 sides, I got the balsamic carrots and fingerling potatos. Both were very bland and cold. Like they were finished first and sitting in the window waiting on the rest of the entrees. The fish was okay, the sauce which I did like was not actually on the fish but all off to the side and there was not enough. My brother’s fish and chips was soggy and also very bland, he couldn’t even finished it, he was grossed out. It didn’t even come with tarter or malt vinegar like it mentioned on the menu. He also ordered a side of wood fired veggies to go with it. However, the veggies were so charred from the wood fire we couldn’t even tell what they were supposed to be. He couldn’t eat those either. My fiancé's chicken was not good, he thought it would come with a side of pasta as most chicken parms do, so for his sides he ordered a Caesar salad and stemmed veggies. The Caesar came with anchovies, I know this is a traditionally way, however the service staff normally informs you of this or gives you the option to have it without, ours did not. I will say his stemmed veggies looked good, it was just those with a small chicken on the plate. It looked like a kids meal, my brother was teasing him. The atmosphere was nice, I did really like the vibe, the service was okay. We had to ask to order, ask for silverware and the check as well. Needless to say, we will not be back to Live Bait. I hope everyone else has a good experience, maybe it was an off night for...
Read moreWe had a great first experience at Live Bait / Goomah—two restaurants in one, with the option to order from both menus. Live Bait focuses on seafood, while Goomah offers Italian fare, which makes for a fun and flexible dining experience.
We started with East Coast oysters, which were super fresh and clean. For mains, we ordered the lobster roll and the snapper—both from the Live Bait menu. The snapper was likely cooked just as intended (in a 500° oven), but the texture wasn’t quite what we personally prefer. The chef came out to check in, was extremely friendly, and offered to swap it for the grouper with caper sauce (also from Live Bait), which was incredible—we’d absolutely order that again. The lobster roll was also excellent.
Our server Lexi was fantastic—she was bartending and covering our section solo, and still gave amazing service. Drinks were great, and everything felt relaxed but professional.
Highly recommend this spot for fresh seafood, attentive service, and a unique dual-menu concept. We’ll...
