I've traveled and eaten around the world. I've been at some of the best restaurants and have even eaten from a random person selling food from their bike so that I could try the local fare in another country (probably not the smartest thing I've done). I like all different kinds of food and truly feel that you haven't experienced the food unless you've gone local.
We decided to start a new family tradition today to support local restaurants and try a new local restaurant that we've never been to every week. After reading the reviews here, we were so excited! All of us love a good burger and fries!
I've had experiences that didn't meet expectations, were cooked incorrectly, have had things that should never have been in my food (think bugs), have overpaid, but have rarely, if ever felt that I was taken advantage of...that all changed today.
We sat down and took our time ordering some food. But the wait to actually get our food after it was ordered was much too long - over 35 minutes for pub food - without the restaurant being busy. I chalked that one up to being short staffed in these times...no big deal. But it kept going downhill from there...
Two of us ordered two different wrap sandwiches in which the menu said we'd have a honey wheat wrap (which sounded amazing) but they turned out to be a regular white flour wrap. No heads up on that.
Tater tots were sold out...it was 530 PM!?!
The burgers tasted good, but they are not the big amazing pictures you see online. The patties couldn't even make it to the outer edge of the buns.
The fries did not look appealing being overcooked and not flavorful. The chips also were very bland. I asked for no sides...just the sandwich so I didn't try the fries or chips initially. But as I'm watching everyone at the table putting salt on their fries and chips (which I've never seen my family do before)...well, I decided to try them. It was like they took a potato, dropped it in heavily used oil, and slapped it on the plate...gross...and I don't think I've ever found a fry that I didn't like. And as someone said at the table...the sides really ruined it!
Then there was the hair incident! After eating half a sandwich...someone at the table noticed a hair sticking out of the other half...yuck. That was a terrible end to a not so great meal...so we thought!
We handed our waitress (who was great) our credit card so she could run the charge before we told her about the hair.. She had the appropriate reaction and said she would take it off of the bill, but we said not to worry about it. That's not who we are and we fortunately do not need to have a free meal for any reason. We just wanted them to know about it. We left a 20% tip and were ready to move on. But the worst was yet to come.
After I added the tip, totalled everything up and signed my name, I wondered how the bill had hit $160+ with no alcohol?!? Now, there were 7 of us (2 adults, 5 kids), so it's entirely within the realm of possibility, but that's when I noticed the line on the receipt that truly made me feel taken advantage of...it cost me $5 more to use my credit card than pay cash. Who carries $160 of cash all the time anymore?
Now, I've seen this before...the local shop where you spend less than $10, or the gas stations when gas prices are over $4/gallon...it wouldn't be totally crazy to see it there. But in a restaurant? When the bill was over $160? And not to say anything about that policy upfront and put it in a place on the receipt that you wouldn't even notice unless you reviewed each line of the bill...I'm sorry, but that's dishonest. And yes, you can argue that it's my fault for going right to the tip and tallying everything up...but these things don't happen at restaurants...anywhere.
I will not come back here again and I'm left wondering how I can be the only person in town that's had such a bad experience when my tolerance for things going wrong is actually really high. It doesn't add up. I never say never...but I will never come...
Read moreNot worth the price nothing special The fried Green tomatoes were all right can't get many other places other than that typical burger typical wrap the Philly steak sandwich was extremely poor and disappointing. Waited 5 minutes to be seated because that's what the sign said than to be told by the waitress that walk by us a couple of times just go ahead and seat ourselves. Place was not busy less than half full. Long wait for foods. $90 for food that consisted of appetizer, cheeseburger, Philly steak and a wrap with one beer rest of us drink water. Would not visit again. More of a pricey alcoholic drinking establishment for people in the area. Should have went to the Mexican restaurant next door. Oh an the corn dip appetizer served with potato chips look like a used baby's diaper could tell it was old. Would not eat here better food to be had at other places. Mediocre at best. Had high hopes for the place. Based on reviews. Took girlfriend and her daughter everybody was disappointed and has no reason to go back. Waited for food waited for water after being told she'd be right back place was not busy could have been a lot better. And to better dive bars.. I also never been to a bistro that didn't...
Read moreI wasn’t sure what kind of restaurant this was but it’s close to my house so I decided to check it out. My husband and I went on a Friday night with our 7 year old. The server apologized because several items were not available due to having run out. (There were 10 items crossed out on the menu.) I asked for iced tea but they were out of that as well. I then asked if they had a kids menu and was told that they will be getting one soon. The only thing on the menu that my son would eat was the burger and I didn’t want to buy him his own $9 half pound burger so we split it. I normally would not have chosen a burger but it was juicy and delicious with fresh toppings. The chips were nice and crispy but way too salty. My husband got the burger too and he also enjoyed it (despite agreeing about the salty chips). The servers were very friendly and attentive and 2 different people came to take our drink order and then check in on us. The rest of the menu looked interesting and I would like to try some of the other sandwiches if I go back without my son. I gave them 4 stars because the food was mostly good and everyone was very nice. I’m guessing it will be better as they work out the kinks of having a...
