This is the last time I will go to the 38th & McKinley location. I had been going there for 8 years but the last 2 times have been extremely disappointing. The time before today we ordered the specials with a drink, we were charged individually for our tacos flautist, enchiladas and beans/rice and only received 1 drink. We paid $27 plus a tip but our order should’ve only cost us $15 with the specials we ordered when I tried to talk to the girl who took our order she acted like she didn’t know what I was saying and told the other lady that she did the order correctly. They didn’t give me a refund of the overpayment. Then someone behind me ordered the same exact thing I ordered and she was only charged $14 for everything. Tonight, we ordered 6 asada tacos it was supposed to come with beans & rice and a drink, the price on the menu said $18 the picture shows asada in the tacos, we were charged $21 + tax and tip there was an extra $2 charge for the asada, we did not receive the beans and rice or the drink. We asked for our beans and rice and drink twice and she never came back to the table with it. It started getting late so we just left and decided we will never go there again. The staff is rude unless you speak Spanish to them (I do understand it and didn’t appreciate them talking about me amongst themselves) it’s sad that they are losing a loyal customer but after reading the other comments about old beans and rice and bugs I guess it was a good thing we...
Read moreOrder 60101 on 7/18. Ordered online for a pick up. Long time fan of El Antojo and lived in this area my whole life. Came in five minutes after estimated pick up time and asked young girl at front register I’m here to pick up my order. I showed her my phone with the pick up information and she told me “ probably be about 15 minutes, have a seat and it will be ready” I thought it was strange since I didn’t see her check a computer or ask anyone, but I trusted her and sat down. After another 15 minutes, my wife is waiting in the car with her mom and my 19 months old daughter is getting antsy in the car. I find the same young girl at the front register and ask her again when the food is and at this time, she rolls her eyes and tells me “it’s gonna be another 15 minutes or 12 you should probably just wait in the car.” Another 15 minutes pass and I bring my whole family into the restaurant and ask again, this time I asked another woman and she went to the front counter and grabbed my food. To my surprise, my food was sitting behind the front counter behind that young girl that I was asking the entire time. I was very upset and confused why I was treated like this. we thought this would be another great experience at El Antojo but instead we had a regrettable experience that my entire family...
Read moreDid I leave Texas? Not if the tacos here are any indication. Needed something to eat late night as I was heading back to my stay and this brightly lit place caught my eye.
Turned in and was pleasantly turned on. The shoeless friendly parking lot attendant/ doorman was the first indication I was in for a treat. The smell of corn oil, Fabuloso and chiles was the second. This place is really a two-fee as there’s burgers on the menu as well. I think they swallowed the joint next door.
From caldo to tacos and combos plates, it was hard to know where to start. I chose the 5 for 5.99$ taco special as any place worth its sal should do a good taco. Lots of choices there and I went with the carnitas.
They were the smaller street taco size, but HUGE on flavor. A squeeze of lime and dash of salsa, green on one and red on the next were equally great. I meant to eat 2 and save the rest for breakfast but gobbled them all! Washed them down with the intensely sweet guava soda that came with the special and rolled to sleep, food baby by my side.
I’m going to have to change my mind about...
