The Redd Dog boasts immaculate service and what may be the best veggie sandwich in the city right now!
Having just moved to Tacoma from SeaTac my partner and I have been trying all the local spots and will definitely be repeat customers here. As soon as we walked in, Kaitlyn greeted us and offered a quick rundown of how their U-Pour system and bussing worked. She asked what we liked to drink and offered perfect suggestions to suit our tastesâI didnât drink anything else!
Ordering was super straightforward with table QR codes and we appreciated that the tables werenât sticky in the least. (We noticed that Kaitlyn was vigorously cleaning the space and was keeping things extremely tidy the entire time we were there.) We noticed a large group of folks playing D&D (with no small amount of jealousy) and a couple families with children, it was what you might expect for a Sunday late afternoon.
After many long minutes agonizing, we realized we lived close by so we didnât need to order everything, despite how tempting it was. We ended up trying the Pretzel with Beer Cheese and Mustard, The Big Redd Pizza, and the Veggie Power Sandwich.
The Veggie Power Sandwich came out first and it was a revelation! The crustiness of the bread offered structural integrity without shredding the roofs of our mouths. The fillings were all delightfully fresh and tasty, though I will say it was a very wet sandwich (luckily they have the nice napkins at the table, and Kaitlyn had brought us plates). My favorite part was the roasted tomatoesâthey were succulent, rich, and full of umami. The chips it came with were surprisingly light and not oily, offering a lovely hit of crunch in between mouthfuls of goodness. We wouldnât order them alone, but did appreciate them with this sandwich. 10/10
The Pretzel came out piping hot and covered with more salt than I had ever seen on a single piece of food. Luckily it was incredibly easy (and kind of fun) to brush it all off, so no harm no foul. It was buttery and toasty, delicious on its own and drenched in their beer cheese sauce. Mustard can be kind of a throwaway but not here! Their mustard was flavorful and tangy in a way that kept us coming back for more. 8.5/10
The Big Redd Pizza had not one but two tough acts to follow, and made a respectable showing. It was immediately apparent how fresh and clean it tasted, despite being hearty and, well, pizza. The crust is more the pillowy sort, the tomato sauce is bright and zingy, and the cheese was plentiful and stretchy. Not particularly remarkable, but an undoubtedly well executed pizza. 7.5/10
Overall I would definitely recommend The Redd Dog! No doubt weâll be making a nuisance...

EDIT: this was meant for the Puyallup location but I didnât realize there were two.
Itâs a cool spot. I did have some issues. First was when you get there someone tells you to order on your phone and theyâll bring the food to your table. Ok I donât have a problem with this at all. However, when I tried to order on phone it adds an automatic service tip that I canât adjust. So while I literally wanted to tip I couldnât even adjust to pick my own amount and wouldâve given more on there. Therefore I just ended up walking to the register and ordering there because then youâre not forced into a set amount. While walking back to the register isnât a big deal in general, the staff were annoyed with me for ordering up there. My other issue was that we went for a fun trivia night. However, the trivia is done on phones and I saw people in front of us looking up answers for their team. This is a bit of a letdown as the trivia is supposed to be a fun, see what you know time. It also means people playing fair donât really have a chance of winning. Winning isnât a big deal but still and I love going to trivia night at other places that donât do it on phone as nobody is looking up answer. But my biggest issue is that I was almost LOCKED IN for the night. I didnât realize it closed as soon as trivia was over. I thought Iâd seen it was open for another hour. So when trivia ended I went to the bathroom. There were a couple people in there waiting so I came out 15 minutes later. All the chairs were stacked and the staff was utterly shocked that someone was still there. One of them told me theyâd been about to lock the door for the night without knowing someone was still there. Youâd think theyâd check the bathroom. That being said I donât like giving local businesses a bad review especially after only one visit. I do think this could be a fun spot to hang out at and itâs cool you can bring dogs and get them food too! I had pizza and I enjoyed that so that was cool! I recommend you try it out but be careful if you are...
