Meh..... the food is always good, the service...yeah, not so much. When the dining room was closed (yes, I do show grace because we are in the land of Covid but yeah...it's not that) we tried repeatedly to make our order online, it did not work for us (multiple days we tried this ) so when we went to order at the door to go it was an absolute joke. They were rude to us for not ordering online until I had to prove to them we could not, then they told us they would be back to take our order...left us no menu and none were on the door and as I said previously the site was causing issues, stood there for 15 minutes they came back and gave someone else their order...it was wrong for the person waiting, ignored me when I asked for a menu, came back to give another person their order 5 min later. The customer expressed frustration that her order was wrong too, came back to give first wrong order lady the correct order, still ignored my request for a paper menu, acted like I was not even speaking. 10 min later brought back corrected order #2, finally responded to me because I grabbed the door when they tried to shut it in my face. Gave me a paper menu, left and did not come back. I left after 15 min of waiting. Different variations of this exact situations happened multiple times so we stopped going their. My family eats take away ALOT, the issues here go beyond JUST staffing shortages and modifications done to keep employees safe from Covid. After going through this on multiple occasions we have essentially written off this location. *YES this was Original Pancake house, I went in to edit an error I saw on my original comment, the original review was from 10 months ago, so fall of 2021. When I edited the error Google reviews reset the date as the day of the edit but this experience was from fall of 2021I believe mid September as it was the last time I was there and have...
Read moreI had never eaten at one of these restaurants and decided to try it out while we were in town from out of state. I was recently diagnosed with celiac disease, so one of the reasons my husband and I chose to eat here was because the menu says they offer gluten-free items AND... who doesn't love breakfast food? We walked in and waited for about 5 minutes to be seated even though we were the only ones waiting for a table, and it appeared that there were other empty tables available. We were seated. Our host was nice and said that she would send over our waitress who was in training. She was nice enough to stay and help answer questions about the gluten-free menu items. I asked about cross contamination as it can make someone with a true wheat allergy (Celiac) really sick. I was told that some of the meats could have cross contamination and that some of the gluten-free items were cooked in pans that also had non gluten-free food cooked in them. This means that the "gluten-free" menu items are sadly not truly free of gluten. This was disheartening as it is very difficult to find restaurants that are actually gluten-free with no cross contamination. I ordered a ham and cheese omelet with gluten-free pancakes. The omelet was mostly cheese with what seemed like very little egg. The pancakes are extremely small, which was very surprising. My husband ordered the country fried steak with eggs and potatoes. He didn't like gravy and got very little potatoes. The beverage glasses are so small that you could finish them in 3 gulps. This is annoying when you constantly need to wait for the waitress to offer a refill. The bill was over fifty dollars for 2 breakfasts, an ice tea, and an orange juice. I don't feel like the quality or quantity of food you get was...
Read moreWent today for breakfast and even for being Labor Day, the wait was only about 15-20 minutes which was fantastic because it gave us time to walk around 6th ave since they have the option to leave your number for a message alert when they have a table ready. I got the (4) pumpkin pancakes and 2 eggs sunny side up and my partner got the country fried steak which comes with eggs (he got scrambled), fried potatoes, and 3 regular pancakes. We also got the carafe (when i asked the waitress how to pronounce the word, she kindly told us like giraffe) of orange juice. Everything was PHENOMENAL! Both kinds of pancakes were cooked to perfection. The regular were the perfect amount of buttery and the pumpkin had a light pumpkin pie flavor. They also had very fluffy butter that melted evenly and quickly but wasn't too heavy. The eggs were really great too! Never had them cooked this way but they were delicious! The country fried steak had one of the best gravies we've ever had on it and it was a tad bit chewy but not terribly. The scrambled eggs were fluffy and the potatoes were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Their warm syrup has the perfect maple flavor while not being overly sweet which was great because I had accidentally over poured and thought I had ruined the pumpkin pancake flavor. The orange juice was also very much freshly squeezed as it had pulp through its entirety and it tasted just like biting into a ripe orange. Overall, the staff and service were great and very friendly, the food came out in a timely manner and the restaurant atmosphere was intimate despite it being packed because of the lighting. We will definitely be back and I'm definitely going to have to try the tropical...
