This review is for the 5th Avenue Taproom which is next door. Unfortunately, google does not have a review button for that particular bar.
My first time visiting this establishment was OK until the end. Multiple bouncers were hustling my friends and I out of the door and off of the porch. My friend, with a full drink in her hand, and myself with a beer, were trying to finish up our drinks on the porch where people were tapering off of. My friend, who is a 30 year old female, apparently was annoying to the bouncers and they got fed up with her trying to "chit chat" with one of them because she found him attractive and she was swooped up by her throat and pushed against the wall and held there. My friend did not hit, kick, or anything prior to being thrown against the wall or while she was there. She was released because she had done absolutely nothing wrong except for take a little longer to get off the porch than the bouncers liked. Prior to this, the bouncer squeezed the full drink out of my friend's hand and threw it away then did the same to my beer. I wanted to file a police report but my friend did not. I called management the next day to report the issue, he/she was not in, and I left my name, number and the reason for my call. Management never returned my call. My second issue is that I was trying to make management aware of an overly aggressive bouncer. He created the kind of situation that he is supposed to prevent in the bar setting. The way this was handled was absolutely unacceptable and I wish there was more that I could do about it. In my opinion, he should be fired but my opinion doesn't go very far. My female friend probably weighs all of about 150lbs at about 5''7. She is and was of no threat. The reaction was an extreme overreaction to the bouncer having to do his job- which is to deal with drunk people who maybe are a little slower when they are finishing their drinks. The bouncer is anywhere between 28-35, white male, at least 6 foot tall with a burly beard. I won't be returning to 5th Ave Taproom. I do not support this establishment whatsoever and am extremely disappointed at what happened and the lack of follow up...
Read moreI’ve been here a few times over the years and every time it was a completely mediocre experience. Every time I go I am ignored for at least 15 minutes sometimes as long as 20 to 25 before I’m even acknowledged. It is very clear that here the regulars are the only thing that matters. The last time I came the bartender ignored me for about 15 minutes and when she finally stopped talking to her friends she accused me of having a fake Id and quizzed me on the details. Even after I answered all her questions right she still didn’t believe me and only allowed me to have one drink. Overall unless you are a regular don’t expect good service here. It’s clear this bar doesn’t know how to tell a real id from a fake. I have not been back since then. Why would I pay bar prices for liquor when I’m going to be ignored and accused of having a fake Id? I rather drink at home than be treated like I’m not a good enough customer.I would have definitely had spent a lot more if I was allowed to. In addition to that the one drink I was allowed was disgusting. The lime juice in my drink was clearly past its date it was more than sour it was rotten. I wish bars would check their lemon and lime juice before giving it to customers. I wouldn’t be mad if she asked me to verify my birthday or something like that but to quiz me on my address, my height, and other details on my Id is ridiculous. If I wanted to be ignored and treated like I was doing something wrong I would definitely go back...
Read moreThis place had the pub vibe for several years and was sort of authentic but has now changed hands several times. It is now part of a group of bars spaced around the same shopping center so your credit card will show a different name. Kind of running down a bit as the miles are clearly showing. Staff was nice, small crowd ranged from mid late 20's to late 30's but I was there early. While we were seated the bouncer staff arrived (classic black t-shirt attire) and banded us so I assume things would pick up a bit later. Pricing is not posted, there does not seem to be a menu, you just pick from the taps or the wall. I got an Irish Pub staple (Guinness draft) and a top shelf whiskey back. My wife got a pretty nasty (garlic olives) mid-shelf dirty martini. The tab was $39 ($9 was the beer.) Overall, that is not a crazy amount but it is a bit out of line for the area and setting of this bar. I'm not saying I will avoid the place but I am saying I won't...
