A cool place to connect to local history, enjoy some trees and air conditioning, and see some stuff you might not learn about in a history class.
A friend and I were visiting town and walked past the sign by the road, curious about the place. We were surprised and impressed, staff are so friendly and knowledgeable and the whole museum and grounds were quiet and clean. The QR codes outside that pull up more info about the place are useful- not too much to read but enough to be informative. The basement portion is interesting and important- don’t skip out on that while you’re here. Patricia gave us a tour and was awesome! Since we were walking around town, she even gave us hand written directions to other places we were interested in and food recommendations. Really went above and beyond and it was so appreciated!
You can tell a lot of work and passion went into restoring and interpreting the building, its history, who lived there, and who built it. Makes you wonder about all the other old places around and what happens when we...
Read moreBeautiful home on scenic grounds — great for a walk and sit. The museum itself is free and very digestible. A thorough visit can easily be accomplished in 20-30 minutes. For out-of-towners a visit could serve as merely an interesting and pretty visit to a historic antebellum home. I highly recommend strolling the grounds after. They have a dog path too! Great for a quick, free, local...

The worker said there were signs suggesting no eating or drinking. I only noticed one sign as I was exiting my upstairs tour headed downstairs at the elevator. The tourist was very polite. The worker had no finesse, but said the right words. My suggestion is that there should be larger signs and more...
