1983 in Tampa is such a great spot for families and friends. The atmosphere has just the right energy, fun and vibrant but not so loud that it’s overwhelming. It’s also really nice not having to worry if your kids get a little noisy, because the place already has a lively buzz to it. The game room is a huge bonus too, keeping the kids entertained while we actually get to enjoy dinner. Between the TVs everywhere for catching the game, the upbeat vibe, and the welcoming feel, it’s a place that works for any night out. The bar is fully stocked, the cocktails are really well done, and the draft beer came out ice cold which is always appreciated. The food didn’t disappoint either. We loved the fried green tomatoes, the wings were flavorful and cooked just right, and the smash burger was awesome. The staff was friendly, helpful, and genuinely seemed happy to be there, which made the whole experience even better. It’s rare to find a place that nails the food, drinks, and family-friendly setup all at once, but 1983 definitely does. We’ll be coming back for...
Read moreThis restaurant has a lot to work on. The interior aesthetic is pleasant but then it’s covered with an insane amount of TVs playing everything and nothing at the same time - religious preaching videos, relationship counseling services and Roth IRA advice on repeat. Even mentioned this to our waiter and didn’t really get a response.
As for the food, the menu has way too many options, spanning American, Asian, Italian and Mexican food yet somehow it all tastes frozen and straight from the microwave. Chicken tender tower was mediocre and we believe it was frozen chicken and fries. Brussel sprouts and French onion soup was terrible - flavor was off in both and even the Bloody Mary had no flavor whatsoever. A simple chicken Caesar wrap should be an easy dish yet this was bland too. We tried an array of menu items and not one thing was impressive or consumed in full.
Attended the soft opening and this place was a complete flop. Considering the other restaurants they own or affiliated with, this was so disappointing. Overpriced and confusing concept...
Read moreBeing that this replaced Datz, I would honestly say I came in with a negative expectation.
The restaurant is new, so some of the reviews are obviously going to be negative but here’s mine.
We showed up 45 minutes early to our reservation, totally our fault but we hoped maybe we could get a cancellation or be seated early. Despite our mistake, the host staff were super friendly and even got us sat down early and worked with what seemed to be a manager to make this happen, so props to the host staff for being super accommodating.
Secondly, the food was great. You are going to a sports bar, not a steakhouse. For bar food, it’s fantastic. The fried green tomatoes and pretzels were great. Maybe the price is high but look at the location, real estate isn’t cheap.
Our waiter was fantastic too, I wish I got his name to give him props but I didn’t.
Overall, I’d absolutely come back. Just know it’s an upscale sports bar, and not an upscale steakhouse, and you’ll leave being...
