This has been one of my favorite pizza places for a while but after my observations tonight when picking up a pizza, I think I may order elsewhere from now on. Of course everyone has the same complaints about this place-- they take cash only and their parking lot is god awful. If you are lucky enough to get a parking space, GOOD LUCK getting out of it. I called tonight around 8 for a pizza. The phone rang and rang -- I started question whether they were even open tonight when someone finally picked up -- I then heard some background noise and they hung up. I called back 13 times to a busy tone each time. Finally someone picked up and said nothing. They clearly just picked the phone up and sat it on the counter until someone could apparently do their job and speak to me on the phone. A simple, "Cappys Pizza can you please hold?" would've done wonders! I guess that is too much to ask tho. (THIS has happened numerous times-- I guess employees are taught this is acceptable) Some finally took my order and I then went to pick it up.
The woman took my payment and I stood to the side waiting for my pizza. Another woman came in to pick up food and asked the curly haired blonde girl at the counter where she could park bc she can't find a spot and was parked illegally. The girl at the counter was shockingly rude, telling the woman she didn't have time to discuss the parking lot with her. The customer asked the woman if someone could bring it out to her car so she could get back outside to her illegally parked car. The same woman behind the counter said, "Are you kidding me lady? Do you see how busy we are? No, I'm not walking your pizza out to your car." It went on from there-- she was literally yelling a picking a fight with the customer. The customer was clearly baffled that this employee was so outright rude to her and walked out. I'm sure that's one less customer, not to mention everyone else standing there waiting for food watched the entire ordeal.
I'm sure Cappys doesn't care AT ALL about this review of their terrible employees working for them but I felt the need to say something. They should be embarassed that these people are the faces of their business. I worked for a very similar family owned, BUSY popular pizza joint --doing her same job all throughout highschool (it's not hard) and if I EVER spoke to a customer like that, I would've been dragged outside by my hair and fired by the big Italian Jersey guy who owned it! I guess the customer is never right at Cappys. Not to mention, my pizza wasn't too impressive tonight to top it off.
People could easily order from a place that delivers yet they come to you specifically for your food. You think you'd appreciate your customers.
If you want really delicious amazing Italian food, go to Bellas...
Read moreTraveling from Mississippi and my husband is Originally from Chicago. We don't have any true Chicago deep dish restaurants in Mississippi so whenever we travel it is usually the first thing we look for. That being said...... If you're a first timer here like we were tonight and you're questioning whether you should try it.... GO!!! I've been to Chicago with my husband visiting his hone and I've had deep dish at the top places and this was by far the BESTbIve had and my husband even agreed. The dough made it! We ordered a tossed salad, bread sticks (amazing), a New York style cheese and a veggie deep dish and I literally left hurting from eating so much. The customer service was equally wonderful and our waitress was a delight and super helpful. The ONLY con which I would never let this be why not to go is the parking is very limited and when I say the place fills up FAST on weekends. We walked in at 5:18, only 18 minutes after they opened and it was almost full. Once we ordered we watched as the line of order pick ups went out the door. It's worth the drive, the wait the limited parking and the miserable full filling once you leave. I don't care if we have to drive back here 9 hours just for the pizza.... we will in a heartbeat and we are...
Read moreOrdered a cheese pizza and basic calzone with ricotta and mozzarella over the phone and the staff was friendly. Went inside to pickup and the place has a charming "Mom and pop" atmosphere although I didn't stay as I was bringing it home.
I did eat a piece of pizza in the car so I could taste it hot. The pizza was not greasy (a plus for me) and the cheese was nice and melted. The crust was a little too dry for me, but that is my preference. Tasted pretty good.
The calzone, on the other hand, appeared a little dark on top so I was skeptical before I started eating. WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. This calzone is what you expect a calzone to be. Thank you for getting it right!!! The ricotta and mozzarella were blended perfectly and the outside, while appearing darker than normal, retained its shape and did not droop. Wish I would have found this place sooner.
I should add that the next day, the pizza and calzone retained the same flavor after reheating in the toaster oven. This tells me they are using good ingredients that don't lose taste.
Sadly, I am moving from the Tampa area soon but will definitely recommend to people that travel here as a place to get good food. Wish...
