I came here for the first time with a friend for her birthday celebration. They made reservations for 12 and we had a secluded table near the restrooms, which was fine. Unfortunately, being there led to being seemingly forgotten for most of the night. Another group celebrating a birthday as well got the full birthday treatment with a dance around the table, plate smashing, and the works. That didn’t happen for our birthday girl. The food was decent, no complaints there. It was also delivered in a timely manner, so the kitchen is at least on point. Drinks were routinely empty for large chunks of time due to a relatively inattentive waiter who was seen on his phone more than a couple times. A cake was brought in by one of the party members and when we finished dinner, we asked for it to be served. After about 15 minutes of waiting for them to bring the cake out, another party member had to ask again. It was finally brought out about 5 mins later without any plates, silverware, or anything to cut it with. Our waiter had disappeared after delivery so we ended up taking plates and silverware off the surrounding empty tables. After we’d already collected 12 plates off surrounding tables, they finally came over with plates and a knife. After cake was eaten, we sat at the table waiting for the bills for another unreasonable amount of time before one of our party had to go hunt down our waiter so we could pay and leave. We were sat at 7:30 and didn’t get to pay until 10:30ish - not because our group was taking a long time, but because our waiter couldn’t be bothered to check on us. We spent a lot of time just waiting…I was planning to allow that to be reflected in his tip, however, gratuity was automatically added; maybe that’s why he was so complacent. The volume of the music also made table conversation nearly impossible at times. Overall I can’t say I’d recommend coming here and probably won’t be back unless I’m invited for...
Read moreHello everyone, Bottom Line Up Front (BLUF) - Definitely recommend it. My review is based on a Saturday Early Dinner on 10 AUG timeframe and a party of two. Unfortunately, I cannot recall our Server's name, I believe her first name began with a G. She was unique in her interaction as she used the word "beautiful" when she acknowledged our decisions instead of "for sure" or "awesome" which are quite overused today. Mom found that refreshing.
Food. We ordered Calamari, Spinach Dip, and a Gyro Platter. All of it was delicious. The complimentary hummus and pita were fantastic. Perfectly seasoned.
Service. G was fantastic. Mom was impressed and that is not easy to accomplish. G was punctual, always available, and accurate; customer service was fantastico! Sometimes, it felt like she could read your mind as she was proactive with her service. The shift was properly staffed and so all tables were promptly served.
Atmosphere. The clientele ranged from solo clients, a group of girlfriends getting together, a family of eight, etc. All felt at home and were enjoying their time there. One of the things that stood out to me was their atmospheric music, which was complimentary to the cuisine genre. So the music, decor, and food were synchronized with one another.
We left with several take-home boxes as we did not want to waste any of the deliciousness.
While leaving, I approached the shift manager to let him know of the great service we received during our visit and that "G" should be recognized for her excellent service.
So whether you wish to socialize with a group of friends and share appetizers before heading out to your main event or bring your family for a great meal and service then Acropolis Greek Taverna on Kennedy...
Read moreThink twice before ordering from this location through UberEats.
My wife and I are regulars at the Acropolis in Ybor, though we live very close to the South Tampa location. We've been to the South Tampa location a handful of times. Stuck in with the kids, I decided to try an order through UberEats. What arrived was a poorly packed, poorly prepared order, missing a side order of pita, that arrived at room temperature.
The boxes weren't put in a bag designed to keep them upright, and there's no way those boxes could have been put side-by-side in the bag used. The driver could have tried better to keep them from tipping, and I'm taking that up with Uber. Because the food had tipped, it was spilling out into the bag. Acropolis can and should do better packing to-go orders. As mentioned a side order of pita was missing. As shown in the pictures, the Pastitsio was burned to a crisp all the way around.
When I called the location to tell them about the screwup, the host who answered was polite, but consistently repeated a few "company lines" that directly contradicted what I was trying to tell her had happened. She was doing her best to handle an upset customer, I get it. But come on, I wasn't making this stuff up. Oddly enough, during dinner rush, the manager was unavailable. I left a number for a call back, but it's been over an hour and I'm not holding my breath.
So hopefully some folks will find this useful before pulling the trigger on an UberEats order from this Acropolis location. Note: I've blurred the name of the person who prepared the order on the receipt picture, so that only their initials...
