Horrible delivery and service experience. Bought a new GE profile washer and dryer set for approximately $3000. It was delivered unboxed pushed to the back of the truck last delivery of the day, bashed All to hell from every other piece of appliance that was on the truck that day. I refused delivery and to my knowledge, the set is still sitting in the scratch and dent area At the Armenia store unsold because it is so damaged. I waited several weeks and went to the Henderson location, hoping for a better experience in South Tampa. It was more of the same. Once famous Tate makes their sale they go completely hands off. The delivery drivers are actually independent, third-party contractors, AKA random guys who have a truck. They could own their truck or they could simply rent a truck for the day and they will perform deliveries for the warehouse, but they are neither professional appliance installers nor do they work for famous Tate. This allows the company to go hands off and claim no responsibility when items arrive damaged. This happened again to the second set of GE profile washer and dryer that I purchased. Again, they arrived damaged and the guys manhandled them into my house. Once they are inside your house. You cannot refuse delivery. Also, they insist on using their own hoses and make a claim that they cannot be responsible for leaks if they don’t use their own hoses. However, they unhooked my brand new hoses and installed Their own but left me with a leak which my husband and I then had to fix ourselves by pulling the appliances, back out, tightening them at the wall and pushing everything back in, which was not an easy task because they are very heavy. Again, these are not appliance repair people they are simply guys who happen to own a truck. So essentially those hoses are a scam to make more money And they aren’t responsible for leaks, even if they caused them. Additionally, when I reported to the Henderson store that this washer and dryer set were bashed and dented in and scratched ion every physical exterior surface, they then claimed no responsibility and told me that I would have to go through the GE warranty because they were delivered and installed. Again, they have no responsibility for the people that they hire to deliver this equipment Nor do they take any responsibility for the damage that they cause because they do not technically work for famous Tate. So now for two months, I have been going through the warranty Service with GE replacing every exterior piece of the washer and dryer piece by piece as they arrive in the mail. Additionally, the washer was never leveled because again, these are just guys with a truck and they are not appliance installation people, so every time I run the washer, it tries to bounce its way out of the house . Again, when I complain to the store, they wanted to send out another one of their random guys with a truck because that’s who they trust to install washers and dryers for their customers. I refused this and demanded that a real appliance installation person be sent to my home. So in short for this very long story, if you buy appliances from famous Tate, this is clearly what you should expect since it happened to me on both occasions from two different stores. Your appliances will arrive, bashed up and scratched and damaged, they will not be installed properly, they will be delivered and installed by random guys who happen to own a truck and that do not technically work for famous Tate, nor are they professional appliance installation people. Also be warned that if you do not buy the appliance warranty, will be SOL once your appliances are inside your house because you will have no recourse to get them fixed When they are damaged during the delivery and install. I will not purchase from famous Tate again. But I would recommend that anybody who does buy from them, arrange your own installation and delivery company so you can Vet their credentials and ensure your items are delivered safely And...
Read moreWorst experience ever!!! The Sales Manager tried to hit me on the sales floor! Why? Because I didn’t appreciate being yelled at when my house almost burned down due to a dryer they installed.
Steven Dameman, the sales manager sold me a new dryer last week when ours stopped working. When I went home to remove the 3-prong cable from the old dryer to use on the new one being installed the next day I discovered the entire back of our dryer was black with soot. The cable was melted and looked as if it had been in a fire. I brought the cable back to Famous Tate to show them and was told they’d come up with a solution and get back to me ASAP. 4-days later, I still hadn’t heard from anyone and I went back to the store to see what was going on. Stephen, the sales manager, just frustrated when he couldn’t reach their customer service manager so he start speaking to me in a loud tone that they could fix the dryer they installed improperly for $125+. When I told him this wasn’t reasonable he then started shouting at me louder, stood up, and told me “let’s take this outside” in a threatening manner. It took another sales man to hold him back as he was trying to engage with me physically. While talking to the other sales man and demanding now to speak with their corporate office, Stephen came back from the back room asking me “Who the f* do you think you are” “let’s go outside and settle this” trying to punch me again.
This behavior is unacceptable! Never should there be a threat of violence and an escalation when a customer is frustrated. Never in my life have I experienced anything like this. I still sit here with a dryer that almost burned my house down, a receipt for a new $700+ dryer I purchased last week, and still not a single working dryer or solution. Instead I was chased out with threats of physical harm.
UPDATE: The follow up left by the "owner" are lies. Fox 13 and NBC have been contacted. I stand by my exact account of what occurred. Your sales manager threatened me with physical harm on several occasions in front of customers and other sales staff. He had to be restrained by another sales man on two occasions. Your video surveillance in the store confirmed this and the executive office apologized repeatedly and said this behavior is out of character for Stephen.
Regardless of the age of the dryer, it was purchased and installed by you and almost set fire to my house. Trying to deflect blame does not...
Read moreOur experience with this Famous Tate started off great, with their representative able to order us all of the appliances we wanted and getting a slight discount over competitors (i.e. Best Buy). However, since ordering and paying, the experience has gone from bad to worse. We ordered our appliances in November 2020 with all items expected to be delivered by the end of the year and one item expected in January 2021. We were notified of our first delay during the last week of December that multiple items that were supposed to arrive did not, and a new ETA could not be provided. Since we are building a new home, our contractor told us to keep on top of it because he would need certain appliances at certain times during the build (i.e. cooktop, wall oven, etc.). Since December, we have had to reorder multiple appliances from other vendors (i.e. Best Buy) because Famous Tate not only couldn't deliver on time, they couldn't deliver within weeks or even months of their original shipping estimates. For example, one major appliance that was supposed to arrive at the end of December 2020 was delayed (2 different times) and now wouldn't arrive until late March 2021. Because of all these delays, we were no longer able to get bulk discounts (common when ordering appliance packages), we missed out on all the winter sales (Black Friday, Xmas), and now we also won't qualify for multiple brand rebates (needed to submit within certain timelines from purchase). This has cost us hundreds of dollars more having to order one-off appliances, and dozens of hours trying to find the right replacements. And contrary to what Famous Tate warned us about "everyone is delayed right now, not just us", we've been able to order replacements from Best Buy and Home Depot with delivery and installation the SAME WEEK. Now, the worst part is their 'system has been down' for over 2 weeks and we cannot even get a refund for the appliances we've had to order elsewhere. We are out thousands of dollars with no idea (it's been 2 full weeks) when they will even be able to refund us the money. My advice, regardless if Famous Tate can save your $100 on a major appliance, don't fall into the trap we are now in and just order it from Best Buy with delivery and installation guaranteed within a few days. I will never use...
