I am sorry to write a negative review today, as i don’t typically write reviews, but the experience today was so awful that I had to share with others.
Long time customer of Doormet, our kids favorite and is a regular Sunday takeout. Food has always been excellent.
Please keep in mind that what I am upset with is not that my food was not ready or that what the website showed me and their ticket system showed them did not match. I am upset with is how poorly they handled the situation. Restaurants are in a service industry and customer service to me is just as important as the food they serve.
After putting in the order through Doormet website as usual and selecting delivery as an option (no specific time was asked for by the system), the final screen displayed “will be ready in 60 min”. After the 60 min has passed I called the restaurant to see how things where coming along, as we have three little kids and wanted to manage expectations. I was very disappointed with what came next.
After the person who picked up the phone told me that my order will not be ready for another half an hour, I tried to understand why. At that point she just passed off the phone to another lady without any warning. I was being very polite and calm voice. The next person proceeded to talk over me, insisted to argue with me, calling me “hunny” and telling me I am wrong and can come over and see for my self. She kept asking me ”so what do you want to do, do you want me to start on the order?” Continued to talk over me. I told her I would like whatever is the fastest and if pickup at that point is fastast, I would come get the food. After the conversation I asked for the name of the General Manager, she told me that they don’t have one and hung up the phone! Even at pickup when asked which one of them is the manager, was told they don’t have one.

You HAVE to be kidding me. Idk what’s worse, the food or the fact people give this place 5 stars.. 5 stars?!??? Have you ever had a quality meal in your life??
I was so excited when I read their menu. It seemed as if it would be fairly high quality Italian, at a very good price in Tampa. The only good Italian in Tampa is either Piccola or pricey.
What we ACTUALLY got was Domino’s. The yellow tomato & burrata salad was not that bad actually, but the Pizza - I swear to god would’ve been better at Papa Johns. This was mush with trash ingredients. The pasta sauce? Are you kidding me? Back in NY the Irish side of the family used to use Jar sauce; this was identical in smell and taste. I knew it the second we opened the boxes & am appalled enough to care to write this. These reviews and awards are a joke, it wasn’t just cooked poorly, it was clearly the quality of the product as well.
Edit post review: congrats selecting under ripe tomatoes and a good cheese not featured in any other dishes.
If you provide this garbage sauce, you don’t deserve to be making Italian. We hit the menu, pizza, pasta, salad. There’s zero evidence even in trace amounts why anyone who enjoys genuine Italian food would ever give you a...
Read moreWe were excited for a new breakfast place in Tampa. First the positive. The place is very clean and has nice ambiance. When we arrived it was raining and they came out to the car with an umbrella. Wow, nice first impression! The menu is very interesting. Unfortunately it ended there. We ordered Egg's Benedict and a Quiche. It was more than 30+ minutes before our food arrived. It shouldn't take that long for what we ordered. No one came to the table to explain the delay or offer to refill our coffee or ice tea. When the food finally arrived, the presentation was horrible. My quiche was burned brown on top. It was the only item on the plate and looked very unappetizing . Once you got past the burned outside, the flavor was not bad. Nothing else was on the plate. My husbands Eggs Benedict looked better, but there was only one egg and a few chips. Again no one offered to refill our drinks. We finally had to ask for our check ($22.30) I asked for my ice tea in a to go cup and they charged me an additional $2.51 for the tea that I had already paid for. So in the end the concept is great, but the...
