Grandma’s tacos — Restaurant in Tampa

I was lucky enough to stumble upon this little concession trailer in the parking lot of an Auto parts store. Taco trucks like this one, if you don't know about them already they are nearly impossible to find. That's why they are called hidden gems. This one takes that meaning quite literally.

But, boy-o-boy am I glad I happened upon this one. The menu had many different options and they all seemed so enticing. I ordered Birria fries, Birria tacos, and a al pastor Sope. I went full fatty and over ordered because the prices were reasonable and I was indecisive as I possibly could be, because I wanted to try everything.

Everything I decided to try was a good choice. If you can find this place you should definitely try it. I think they deliver on doordash and Uber too. Just make sure you don't overindulge and regret ordering so much like I did. Or bring...

I've been comparing Mexican food trucks near my house and tried Grandma's Tacos.

The food was good. We ordered three Mexican tacos - two chicken and one pork - and a chicken tostada.

The tacos were fine but did not have a lot of flavor. They came with double tortillas, which isn't a bad idea to keep them together, but it also made them a bit more bland. The chicken and pork could have used more seasoning and the tacos could also have used more onion and cilantro.

The tostada was actually quite good. The flavor was richer and more varied than the street tacos. It was a little heavy on sour cream and was a bit smaller than expected, but it tasted great.

If these are Grandma’s Taco’s then I want to meet Grandma! WOW! These tacos are SO FRESH and flavorful. The meat is tender, the tomatoes are sweet and the tortilla is pliable with a crunch on the outside. Never had anything like it and I’ve eaten some pretty good taco’s! This place has THE BEST & FRESHEST pico de gallo I have ever tasted!
