HCK Hot Chicken — Restaurant in Tampa

Wow is this chicken sandwich delicious! The breast meat is snow white and amazingly plump and juicy! I imagine that comes from starting with Halal (the highest quality) chicken and then brining it for hours. Seriously could not eat another dry, thin Chick-Fil-A after HCK’s. And the slaw. And pickles on a soft bun. YUM! I’ve tried three of the five heat levels—and all were super flavorful. Not just heat. And the fries are extra crispy—do you take an extra step with them? The sandwich was so big that I couldn’t eat it all, and I took the rest home for breakfast;-) LOVE sitting outside at the picnic tables under that gorgeous live oak tree. It feels like a high end café setting! Every one of the staff we have dealt with have been super welcoming and friendly. We’ll be back again soon! I thought this was gonna be a place that knew about chicken tenders since that's their main deal. I'm not sure if it's a Nashville thing or something but they put the entire breast in the batter then fry with out cleaning it. I asked if they clean their chicken and they said yes but I think they thought I was asking if their chicken was dirty, not wether or not they cut the tendon out. They do not. I want to offer to train all their cooks for free. I will do so happily if it means great tenders. There's a reason most people do 1 inch tenders. U can offer the same weight of chicken just cut em in half. They will fry quicker aswell. It's a win win...

Honestly some of the most perfectly cooked chicken, so juicy especially for white meat. The first time I came I felt that the sauces soaked into the batter and decreased the crisp a little too much, this time with the recommendation of the owner and general manager I got the country style which was well seasoned and delicious, and the sauces on the side.
