No good deed goes unpunished, what a mistake it was giving this place a chance.
Zeko’s quality at Acropolis prices. Had a rice bowl with salmon, which both roughly made up for 10% of the bowl, 5% each. A thin layer of rice at the very bottom of pit layered with a ridiculous amount of onions, pepperoncini, beats, feta and black olives, with 6 silver dollar sized pieces of likely frozen salmon atop on a skewer for $19. Ate as much as I could for sustenance, and was still hungry.
Ordered “Greek fries” that didn’t taste like anything, and my girlfriend ordered a gyro she couldn’t finish either. We had second thoughts when we saw the prices on the menu, but were quite hungry, and witnessed another person come in, look at the menu and leave, so out of pity, we thought we’d spare the crew the embarrassment of facing 3 potential customers walk away and give this place a fair shot, and what a joke it was.
You can spend $44 on a lot of things. I wasted mine on a dinner that didn’t even leave me full. Food truck level Mediterranean with scant portions of what matters and too much of what’s unimportant is their schtick here.
The air conditioning was broken, which I’m not going to hold the restaurant against, but it was incredibly uncomfortable in the restaurant and infuriating charging $1.99 each for a hardly cool generic bottle of water they probably pay 10 cents for by the case is insulting. The place was so dead, the young lady who prepares the meals sat in the dining room on her phone watching TikTok loudly, while eating candy too.
This place isn’t gonna last and no one is going to remember it....
Read moreI’ve eaten gyros in Greece, so I can confirm these gyros are 100% authentic, including the french fries stuffed inside the gyro! (You can get it without french fries, too.) They also use the fluffiest, softest pitas imported from Greece. Their shaved chicken and pork is so incredibly flavorful and juicy; it tastes like it’s marinated in herbs and fresh lemon juice. They also season and lightly grill the onions and pita before making your gyro. All these extra steps add so much flavor, I didn’t need to ask for extra tzatziki sauce, like I always do elsewhere.
I talked to the owner, who takes your order, and found out his family is from Greece, so he’s spent a lot of time there. He wanted to bring authentic Greek food to Tampa, and he’s done it! Even their music is a live radio station from Greece, with all the commercials spoken in Greek— fascinating! They also have a very charming patio next to a river with a giant live oak tree providing shade and cozy ambience. It’s lit up pretty...
Read moreI try new food spots weekly. I do have to say the food tastes great. However the service is another story. my first time ordering from here and i wanted my coworkers to try as well. greek salads with everything included was a hit. Gyro salad a little on the salty side but it was good. I did order spinach on my salad and when i was going to take a bite.. i wanted to see the texture of it, thats when i spotted hair. YES dark/black hair in the spinach. It was IN the spinach NOT on top.
I called to inform them the batch of spinach is contaminated with hair they kept me on hold ...finally when someone answer he thought i was placing an order. I informed him of the situation, they said they would credit my account then HUNG UP without any further converstation.
I also Ordered a Ice tea that they took off the order and didnt inform me of until i called back asking where the drink is.
Not a good first impression. EveryOne's food seemed to be fine they didnt order...
