BluWave Sushi Tampa — Restaurant in Tampa

This is our Go to spot for Sushi weekly having tried a multitude of Sushi Restaurants in Clearwater, St. Pete's and Tampa. (We live in St. Pete's). We will have Sushi nowhere else in the area now. The Apps are great, we always have the Mussels, Crab Salad, Veg gyozas (which were Air-Fried to PERFECTION)! and the Crystal addiction (With Spicy Tuna) to start. Sophia is always attentive and knows us pretty well now that she kind of has everything ready for us without us even asking. We then move on to the Sushi rolls...We start with the Samurai (With Spicy Tuna), then the Volcano (someone on here said it's the best Volcano they ever tasted and we pretty much agree...)...This Volcano is REALLY GOOD! It's actually the only Volcano roll that actually is constructed to look like a real Volcano. We move on to the final roll which is a special roll. There are two chefs now...Chef Coong who has been there awhile makes his special roll for us. We nick-named his roll the 'King Coong' roll (Like King Kong). The new chef Adam also makes a Special roll for us..(he is extremely knowledgeable on making Sushi as he has a lot of training making Sushi and has a real passion for the art of it)....we were trying to figure out a name for his special roll and the Owner Gabriel jumped up and said 'you should call it the Adam Bomb Roll'...and Voila. These rolls are not on the menu so you have to ask the chefs to prepare them for you...it's basically made to your liking. EVERYTHING here is EXCELLENT. We have no complaints about this Restaurant! Remember to bring you own Wine or Beer...folks who arrive there without Wine have to cross the street to buy Wine. We love that actually as we can bring our own chilled Wine from home and enjoy it there. Also, NO CORKAGE Fee and if you know us, we are REALLY excited about that! See...

We were excited to try a new place after seeing the good reviews and multiple features on Instagram. We made a reservation for a Friday night which I highly recommend since the place maybe seats 12 people max. They do not offer any alcohol, it is BYOB. This is fine but there is no mention of it on their website. We ordered several appetizers and rolls. Everything was beautiful and the food came out quickly.

The reasons for my two stars….1) only one bathroom that was absolutely disgusting, pee all over the toilet seat, no toilet paper, just overall not clean. 2) the two servers working were very very young, I would say high school, and it showed. Although they were very nice and relatively attentive, we sat right by the hostess stand/togo pickup area and the handling of walk ins was very unprofessional. We watched a couple come in, be told 20 minutes for a table which they patiently waited for, only to come back and find out that another walk in couple had taken their place in line…..this was all handled by one particular server, including when she spilled a customers drink all over him (accidents happen) but also gave that same customer our bill with our credit card inside. Just yikes. It was a bizarre experience to say the least. Would definitely recommend hiring someone with a bit more experience. 3) although the sushi was beautiful and tasted great in the moment, we have been sick with stomach issues aka food poisoning for 3+ days. We do partake in the raw sushi and we are aware of the risk but jeez, we were down bad all weekend and still have lingering digestive issues. 4) minor issue here but the music was very loud and mostly rap? Seemed strange for an intimate sushi place and made it hard to have a conversation.

Maybe we were there on an off night but we will not...
