We both had country fried steak. One with grits and with eggs fried hard and the other with scrambled eggs and home fries. Even though the place was busy, the wait was not long at all. Super courteous staff and great selection of food. The country fried steak was really good. I could have cut it with a butter knife but the breading was still crispy. Really nice gravy as well. The home fries were seasoned well without salt which is fantastic because I can add my own salt to taste. Eggs were eggs. The only downside were the grits. Nothing special about them. Just grits. Overall a really fantastic place to have a nice Sunday breakfast... Or any day for that matter! Next time I've got to try some lunch.

Great local place for breakfast. Prices are very reasonable and the staff was friendly. I got the French Toast with over easy eggs and bacon. The french toast was cooked perfectly. Sometimes when you order from other places they dont cook the toast enough and it comes out soggy, but not here. It has a nice slight crisp crust. The eggs and bacon were cooked perfectly. My only complaint was some lipstick on the coffee mug. A pet peeve of mine. "Back in my day...." I remember spending time cleaning all the mugs to make sure no lipstick was on any mugs... its gross. If you're looking for a a good meal at a good price in south Tampa, this is the place.

Good food. Friendly atmosphere. Place of business is a small diner. The only thing I didn’t like is if you ordered a meat omelette, you had to pay extra for cheese. But it was only $.50. And it was clearly marked on the menu. I had a ham and cheese omelette and a single pancake but with tax the cost was over $17 which I found a little excessive. Otherwise I recommend eating there. Also, it would’ve been nice if my server had asked to refill my drink or if I wanted anything else but she didn’t but everybody else there was very very nice. She was tipped 15% before tax.

Every now and then, you stumble on a place that totally exceeds expectations—and yesterday, Mama’s Kitchen did just that. I popped in for lunch and decided to try their bacon cheeseburger with fries, and I’m not exaggerating when I say it was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had.

This wasn’t just any burger—it came fully loaded with all the fixings: crisp lettuce, juicy tomato slices, fresh-cut onions, and a perfectly toasted bun that held it all together. They even served it with a side of mayo for that extra creamy kick, which paired perfectly with every bite. The bacon was smoky and crisp, the cheese melted beautifully, and the patty itself? Phenomenal. So juicy and flavorful, I honestly would’ve believed you if you told me Gordon Ramsay himself was back there on the grill.

The fries were just as impressive—crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned just right. Every piece of the meal felt thoughtful and well-prepared.

And the price? Only $12.95. For a meal this delicious and this filling, that’s a steal. In fact, the portions were so generous I even had leftovers to take home.

Whether you’re looking for a spot to sit down and enjoy a solid meal or just want a quick bite that actually delivers, Mama’s Kitchen is absolutely worth the visit. Great food, generous portions, and prices that make you do a double take—in the best...

If you cross Mamas Kitchen threshold you instantly become family. I've done it 21 years ago, and I keep coming back whenever my modest budget permits. You're greeted with "sit wherever you like", which gives you freedom of choice. You can take a booth even if you're alone! No kidding! The servings are generous, and made to perfectly mimic homemade. It's delicious and comforting, not gourmet. And the prices are just and fair. The service is honest to goodness friendly and home-like, the waitresses memorize your preferences from the first time (like mom knew what you liked), they never push "the specials" unless they're asked about them. We joke with each other, we talk tti strangers, we'r sing happy birthday, and we laugh at the many tongue-in-cheek signs on the wall. My favorite is the self deprecating coffee sign that goes more or less like this: "Our coffee is so good, that even we drink it. On occasion..." 😂 If you're looking for a fancy place, there might be a few down the road. But if you're looking forward to go back in time, go home, or simply need some comfort food, 'come on in! Sit...

Lee is a Riot and We Like to Rib Each Other (I'm Pretty Sure People Have Their Own Thoughts)...However, We are Just Teasing Each Other! George is Professional and Polite, Tina Sweet as Anyone Could Every Ask for and Never Needs Reminder on Orders. 😉 Service and Food I Have "Never" Been Disappointed Even When We Get Our Food to Go. Very Clean and Relaxing, Never Rush Anyone. We Have Been Going There So Long, Can't Remember. Don't Go Out to Eat as Much as We Use to. Rather Your Going for Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner...Always Good! Do Miss the Chip Beef (SOS) on Toast. My to Go Food is Usually the Greek Salad. If You Haven't Heard of Mama's Kitchen, Then You've Been Living Under a Rock LOL 🤣 Conveniently Located in South Tampa (Dale Mabry and Oklahoma), Easy Access, Good Parking. 👍 Definitely Go and Check Out Mama's Kitchen...
