Pete's Place South — Restaurant in Tampa

I absolutely loved it! The karaoke is awesome, the crowd more awesome. I went during the halloween party and had an amazing time. The bartender Jessica is the most gracious host. It was so busy and she kept up with the energy and crowd. My friends and I met some awesome people. Plus, there was a woman there running for office and she was great. The Halloween costumes were all great. Now, I gave a 4 star review only because the judging for the Halloween contest was a bit biased. The guy looking like Dennis Philips was ok but should not have won first place in comparison to the blue girl, the tall guy with the amazing boobs, captain America or the lady grinch. Then, we learned that the first place prize is given to the husband of the lady judge that runs karaoke and the third place prize was given to the girlfriend of the guy running karaoke as well. You should have random, trusted judges that can fairly judge the contestants. I know you leaned on the crowd but the crowd couldn't cheer because most of everyone was drunk or wasn't paying attention. My friends and I didn't know what was going on, sitting in the back until it was too late. I wish everyone was involved but unfortunately, I hate to see people upset because they didn't get a fair chance in judging. - Just my take. Again, this place is awesome. We came here for karaoke. We ordered drinks & sat at the bar. The bar tender, JESS, was HORRIBLE!! We sat there for an hour without her checking on us one time. My husband ordered a chilled shot & she took a warm bottle, poured his shot, then put the bottle in the ice. His shot was warm. After we finished our round, we sat there for over 30 minutes trying to get her attention. We wanted to order food, but by the time we finally got her attention, the kitchen was closed. Had she asked us if we wanted to see a menu when we first got there we could have ordered food. When she FINALLY saw us waving her down, she came over & yelled at us for flaging her down. She claimed she was making her rounds, but again, over an hour without her checking on us. This was the first & last time we will ever visit this establishment. We were also informed the manager wasn't there that night, so I don't know if she's like this all the time or only when her boss isn't around. We watched her serve other guests 2 & 3 rounds of drinks before she ever checked on us. We got our 2nd round of drinks & left immediately. We were polite, not loud or rude. There was no excuse for her to have such an attitude with her guests. Never going back & never recommending this...

The only 7 days/wk karaoke establishment in S. Tampa. Has 2 pool tables in a front annex off the main bar. Small place; an oval bar in the center of the room, and a few high-top tables surrounding it with a dancing area in front of the microphone stand. There are a couple of flat screens mounted high on the walls, and the karaoke DJ has a marquee loop of the que numbered in the order of who's next; although I witnessed favoritism and deviations from the numbered list on the night I visited and a regular confirmed that it is standard practice. I was also unable to get the drink I wanted due to the bar's lack of supplies. It was very busy starting around 1030 pm, with a few people dancing along with the singers and 2 couples shooting pool. The pool table area seems to get minimal traffic despite the table and cues being in good condition. The only downfall to this area is minimal seating, and seating in the main bar area does not provide adequate viewing of the table area. Conversely, those who are shooting stick do have a vantage point of the bar and karaoke singer, with audio speakers delivering the experience...
