The employees are very nice and pleasant. However, the owner/manager is rude to his customers and instead of trying to work with and please his customers, as an owner/ manager should, he argues with them over the smallest thing. He chose to argue with me over a $9 plate through the drive thru because I ordered one item, was asked to pull up and when they brought the wrong item to the car, I would not take it as it wasn't what I ordered or wanted. The employee was very pleasant however, the owner/manager came out and tried to make me take the order - an item that I do not eat - because of a misunderstanding between the cashier at the window and I over what actually I ordered. After 2 minutes of arguing with me, I asked for a refund and he says to me that they dont give refunds even though goods hand not yet been handed to me or touched my hands while in my car. He proceeded to say to me that what I thought I heard after the cashier said my order, "wasn't their problem". As I was speaking, he just walked off from me in the middle of the conversation with the order. He eventually changed the order but after that, I didn't trust the food. Had he not fixed the order and refused a refund, I would have gotten the law involved as that would have been taking my money for goods/services that I did not receive With being in Operations Management myself, I would never have that type of horrendous attitude with ANY of my customers at ANY point. I work for a multi-million dollar Company with business in all 50 states. I was totally shocked at his behavior. I have loads of friends and family as well as myself that have spent thousands of dollars at this establishment and it is appalling that the employees treat you better than the owner/manager. This is why some people cannot be prosperous because they take their customers for granted. Keep the employees at the forefront and the manager in the background and the business could possibly become a chain throughout the country. It's not that the customer is always right but it's how you take care of them that will keep them and those that they know, as...
Read moreFirst time trying this place after passing by a million times. I got the fried shrimp dinner, which I do not recommend. Everything smelled and tasted off, with a weird chemical smell that makes me wonder what kind of oil they are using to fry everything. Breading was actually pretty good and crispy but the actual shrimp underneath was limp and tasted off. Tails were spotty and didn't look right--should have tipped me off I guess. Tried a dab of their tartar sauce and recoiled thinking "this is not what this is supposed to taste like". I am a card-carrying member of the clean plate club, but I had to stop after 2. Nothing worse than paying $10+ for food you can't even eat. Coleslaw was par for the course mushy fast food slaw, the most palatable thing I got. Hushpuppies actually had a nice texture but I could not shake the weird chemical flavor (maybe from that same questionable oil?). Fries were not crispy and didn't taste good, though they had a nice light seasoning of some Old Bay-type flavor. The restaurant itself is an odd vibe, with harsh fluorescent lighting fighting to overpower the natural light pouring in and Kenny G Radio on Pandora playing a solid 2 levels louder than you would want it. To be clear, Kenny G is tight, it is just an odd vibe choice to impose an easy listening instrumental cover of Hallelujah with that much volumetric force. Barricades aggressively control the direction of foot traffic, as though they want to keep people from exiting from the left door at all costs. As of 4/19/22, prices are about $3 higher across the board than the menu pictured on google, and at that price there is really zero reason to go here....

My mom heard a radio advertisement raving about this meat and 3 located in Tarrant. She decides to send me to pick up some dinner for her one evening I'm off work early. I've passed by this restaurant many times, but never had the desire to stop. As I pull up, I notice on the sign that the price for a meat and three veggies is only $7.99. What a deal!
Upon entering, I looked at all of the choices. I decided to order a cup of Mac and cheese to sample. I feel like a restaurant that can't do Mac and cheese right will never see my money. My mom wanted beef tips and rice, cabbage and butter beans, so the Mac and cheese served as her 3rd side. That's a lot of food! But how did it taste was the real question.
When I sunk my teeth on the fork of cheesy goodness, my heart leaped for joy. Finally! A restaurant that serves good soul food near my neck of the woods. As I rushed home to take mom her food, I felt like I had a little skip in my step!
My mom raved about the food. She gave it 5 stars. I returned with my friend the same evening and ordered the baked pork chops. I must say, that in my honest opinion, this is the best meat and veggie restaurant in the city. I don't give many 5 stars, but this place earns it. Friendly and fast service, excellent price, delicious food, location (near my house) and availability (the hot bar is open all day, not just during lunch) means I'm going to be a happy repeat...
