Grove Street Tavern — Restaurant in Taunton

First time coming here and will be back! The location and exterior may seem sketchy, but a nice friendly staff and regulars await you inside. Started off with the gold fever tenders. Lightly breaded and definitely fresh. GREAT sauce. I got a BBQ chicken pizza which comes with onion and bacon. Ordered it crispy because I like a harder crust and was not disappointed. Most other bar pies or regular pizza places put some grilled chicken on top and drizzle with BBQ sauce, but this place puts shredded BBQ chicken UNDER the cheese and it's genius using that shredded chicken. It was spread throughout the entire pizza so I could actually taste BBQ chicken in each bite. Very good amount of crumbled bacon and red onion. Highly recommend if you like bbq chicken! My boyfriend ordered pepperoni, jalapeño and chorizo, crispy with burnt/laced edges. He really liked it but thinks the chorizo was a bit overpowering but I think that's a good thing. He usually does bacon so I'll chalk this up as just being too different for him. My only MINOR critique was that the cheese hardened quite a bit when it cooled, doesn't stay as soft as maybe Town Spa would but again, still only a tiny complaint. I prefer a blend with not as much mozzarella because it's a bit softer and flavorful but that will not keep me from coming back at all! I have to say this place made my heart smile to see the bartender interacting with a couple at the bar was incredible. There was a gentleman there playing the acoustic guitar and the environment in general was so fun. It was loud, but it was like a good loud. It just seemed like everyone there has been going there for quite a while and knows a lot about the place and listening to the couple of joke around with the bartender and listening to the gentleman on the guitar. All of it falls above was just so great it was so great to see you don’t see a lot of places like this anymore and it was absolutely beautiful. The food was out of this world good I had the steak tips. My significant other got a buffalo chicken sandwich that he also said was incredible and definitely highly recommend because it was excellent for a little tiny place that you wouldn’t expect to be so inviting was absolutely amazing to see the joy and the happiness, and the overall home like atmosphere. The food was incredible. The service was incredible. People were laughing having a good time absolutely amazing for families and for couples to go and have a date night I have nothing but positive things to say about this place. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. My boyfriend and I went in for a drink and burgers. We ordered our food as soon as we got our drinks, and we were starving. After an hour and ten minutes we still didn’t receive our food. We called over our waitress who says “I’m so sorry, the kitchen lost your slip.” This was our first time here and we will never be coming back again. We ended up just paying for the drinks and leaving. This was a ridiculous experience. Word of advice, do not come here if you are hungry!

Hundreds of 5 star reviews does not mean that this was okay. Yes mistakes happen, but I have waitressed in the past and I would have checked in with the kitchen to see what was going on after such a long period of time. It seems to me that the kitchen and the waitress dropped the ball. There weren’t many tables occupied while we were waiting by the way. Perhaps this establishment should work on hiring more staff and better communication between the team, and situations such as these might not happen. In addition, as an owner you could probably do a better job at satisfying disappointed customers rather than boast about so many 5...
