Fish Camp… I gotta hand it to you. I’m a picky, homesick New Englander who doesn’t know anything about authentic Maryland Cakes but a lot about seafood. Your spot, hands down, the best crab cake I’ve ever had. Perfectly cooked with a gorgeous marbled sear, that breaks into perfect bite sizes of big chunks of clean, sweet crab, tossed together with just the amount of binder and sweet red pepper, hint of spice and creaminess. I can’t wait to come back. Your clam chowder has been the best New England Clam Chowder…at least locally, that we’ve tried so far between St Pete and Orlando to Daytona. The clams are super tender. Stock was a little flour heavy and couldnuse a dash more of cream to like they do in Gloucester but the creaminess and richness is well mtched with perfectly tender and bite sized potatoes. Really, my criticism is hardly one, more of a preference in New England clam chowder style. I regret I didn’t listen to the people in the Lake County Word of Mouth forums. I should have listened the FB forums and tried you first when everyone responded “Fish Camp” for best seafood. The pictures don’t do your food or your location and ambiance justice. There was just the right amount of foot traffic on a Wednesday night for a family to come by after work, relax after work with a drink or two in the cool Florida sunset breeze , watching gators 🐊 cruise by. Various size parties, young and old, enjoying great, fresh made and house made mix cocktails and excellent fold, both southern and northern to gator bites, mussels, steamed clams, raw oysters, delicious shrimp. The service was fast, polite and professional. Outstanding prices. Excellent kale ceaser salad. I’m salivating all over again thinking about our next dinner. :) Thank you! Can’t...

Fish Camp Lake Eustis is a delightful restaurant with a lovely lakeside setting. Their steakburger and French fries are outstanding — the 1/2 lb burger I received (pictured in my review) was juicy and cooked to perfection, served on a buttery toasted bun, and the fries were crispy and perfectly seasoned. The prices here are very reasonable considering everything is brought in fresh, and the portions are generous.
The staff here has always been friendly and attentive, making the dining experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere is fairly casual and relaxed, perfect for a laid-back meal with friends or family with fantastic views of the lake. As a local favorite, finding parking, seating, and getting your food can take some time during peak hours, which should be expected anywhere, but I can assure you it’s well worth the wait.
Many of the negative reviews I’ve read here seem to be left by pretentious people who think the world revolves around them. Listen, if you’re polite, friendly, and respectful to staff your servers will notice and appreciate your kindness. I visited for lunch during a weekday. My hostess/server seated me promptly, provided me a menu upon seating, brought me a beverage right away, and got my order in very quickly. She stopped back several times to check in on my experience and to see if I needed anything, was able to provide me with a guest WiFi password, and even brought me a small to-go cup for my Coca-Cola. Kindness begets kindness, people. Remember that.
All in all, Fish Camp Lake Eustis is a hidden gem in Tavares that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for delicious food, beautiful views, and...
Read moreI do not recommend coming on a Friday evening (5pm) like we did. We brought our senior pup along and were seated outside… and then totally ignored. Twenty minutes after being seated, we ordered our waters, appetizer, and entrees at the same time. The appetizer (gator bites) came out quick and were delicious. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. About 30 minutes after finishing our appetizer, our waitress said “Your food should be right up”. Twenty-five minutes later our waitress came to our table and said “How did everything taste”… WE NEVER GOT OUR FOOD! We told her this, and the fact that we now needed to leave so we would like to pay for the gator bites and get our entrees to go (if they were even ready). She came back with our food packaged- but this meant no sauces, no ketchup, etc AND everything was cold! We knew as soon as we got to the car and opened a container our food had been ready for a while and forgotten about- the fish and fries were cold and the coleslaw was liquified. She mentioned how they were so busy, which we could see and we were being patient, but that is no excuse to ignore us and serve everyone around us. Our food was forgotten- as were we, don’t make excuses. We likely won’t be back. The two stars are for the delicious gator bites, and the young man who was running food to everyone’s tables with speed. I want to add that we chose this restaurant based on their reviews on “BringFido” as being extremely dog friendly… No one acknowledged our boy at all. We had brought his own portable water bowl luckily. Maybe they were too busy to engage not only with us but our dog but it was just an overall...
