We were seated next to the register. We listened to these workers talk about how much they hate people and how much they hate working here. They talked bad about every single customer that walked through the door. We talked to our server about my son’s steak being too hard. We requested medium rare to begin with. She said “I told them that and I noticed it was well done.” Then she took the plate. We heard the server tell the cook that my son is being picky and that he won’t eat it. Matter of fact, she yelled this to the cook.. My friend said “do they really think we can’t hear them?” The level of discomfort increased, our appetites decreased. My son is not picky, he’s a foodie. The problem is, this steak is inedible, because it’s harder than dog food. They bring out another steak which is bloody rare. Another waste. We decide we are done eating at that point. The server approaches us and asks if we want our checks together or split. I said, together. She rolled her eyes and shook her head saying “I just hate people.” As if we said or did something wrong to her. At that point, we asked for the manager. The manager came out, he seems soft spoken, kind and understanding. He offered to get the owner. A few minutes later the manager came back out and said the owner was busy. We said we will wait. The owner came out we explained what happened and what we have been experiencing. He quickly said “Salina has been working here for a long time so I can assure you she doesn’t hate her job.” Well, that’s besides the point here, I said “the point is this behavior is unacceptable.” He says “well what do you want to make it right?” I said, “our meals should be free.” We barely ate any of the food when we noticed what the workers were saying, the meal was hardly enjoyable. We declined to pack the food up. The owner refused to comp our meal because “you’re not going to return anyway.” Then, I suggest that he address these behaviors with the server and host, that we are requesting an apology from them and not from the owner. He said “why would I bring them out here so you can berate them?” I said, we are simply asking for an apology, as the owner you should have your employees make things right, especially if they are clearly in the wrong. They should acknowledge their wrong doing and apologize whether it’s sincere or not. I said “if you were in our situation, sitting with your family, would you want to hear an apology from an owner who clearly is not willing to help or would you rather hear it from the people who are at fault?” He said “well what’s that going to solve.” At this point, we see very clearly, where the attitude stems from. We notice those two workers are now being overly nice, clearly FAKE AS HELL to other customers while the owner is on the floor ‘trying’ to address the issue. The girls eventually came out and said “sorry for the misunderstanding” as we were heading out the door. Seems as though the owner enables their behavior then defends them, further reinforcing deplorable customer service. “Well I’m not gonna fire them” he said. Well, that’s not what we are asking for. But you are willing to lose several customers over your employees bad behavior? He shrugged his shoulders and seemed ok with that. I have been to this restaurant more times than I can count with my family. I have suggested people who visit from out of state to this restaurant. I have brought in friends, aunts/uncles, cousins, co workers… As nurses, we order take out here for the entire crew, often. This comes to an end today. This place used to be my favorite, but I will never return. From bland pasta to bland service. There are better options in Utah. Perhaps options where they know how to treat their customers with respect. Over $60 in the trash. But what goes around comes around. I’m not worried. That type of service will tank this restaurant eventually. If you take a minute to read the way the owner responds to negative reviews, he is clearly unprofessional. I’ll make sure everyone I know, will not pay a penny to this horrendous...
Read moreWe had today a late lunch, after a busy Saturday we went to have a great lunch. We did have Mushroom Marsala, that is mandatory andRavioli, with pesto and marinara. Great service by Morgan and our food was amazing.
Like always best experience, we do have to support this great restaurant in our city. Food and employees are great. 02.04.2023
We went today for lunch. A late lunch, I'm bad, don't remember my waitress name, but she looks like Cameron Diaz 😉😉. We invite a friend and shelved it!!!! She loved our favorite Mushroom Marsalla, I did have Manicotti and a side of grilled chichen, Spaghetti with meatballs. Wedding Soup, and for dessert Chocolate mousse and cheese cake. As always everything was super tasty. And service was really good.
As I already said, this is the best Italian restaurant in SLC. We do enjoy every time that we go. Today and we never miss Mushroom Marsala as appetizer, I had Lasagna Bolognese and my husband had Tom's Pizza with mild sausage. Food was amazing and service great, good job as always
We went today 06.18.2022 for an early Father's day celebration with a couple of friends. As always food was amazing, we ordered Penne Rustica, Steak Marsala and the Spinach Salad, but with a great New York Steak. Super tasty, and I said before, since we discovered Siragusa's we don't go to another Italian Restaurant. My friends loved it. Service was so good., Katie was incredibly helpful and kind, we know how Ross take care of her team. I'm only waiting for my Chicken lasagna in white sauce. 😋
Since we discovered Siragusa's Taste of Italy we stopped going to another italian restaurant in Salt Lake City. This is been the place for us, and today wasn't the exception!!!! Starting with the environment, informal and cozy, today Adam W. was our server, great service, very helpful and nice with suggestions. We did have the Mushrooms Marsala and Chicken and Spinach Salad, both are our favorites, we share it. I did have Chicken Piccata that was the special today, and my husband had Spaghetti with Mild Italian Sausage. As always it was an amazing experience today. Give them a try, is a family business with very engaged team and great...
Read moreHad dinner there with friends last night they chose as they live near by. First time visit and definitely wont be going again. Ordered pizza and it was probably the worst pizza l've ever had in my life and in that I'm including all the terrible cheap frozen ones you might have bought as a student (or when times where hard) ie the grocery store type you throw in the oven for 20 mins. Taste of Italy not a chance more like taste of Walmart budget range frozen pizza thrown in a warm (not hot) oven for 5 mins less than the recommended cook time. I didn't say anything to my friends till the day after and it turns out their food wasn't great either. How these guys got to an overall 4 star l've no idea all I can think is they have recently changed the chef or something but this place really sucks.
Update Having now read some of the bad reviews in detail I find it amazing the response back from the owner to some of these bad reviews. Instead of taking the criticism as positive and something to point his cess pit in the right direction he argues the toss and tells everyone how they are wrong, wake up buddy boy.
This place needs a visit from Gordon Ramsay which I might suggest he's a personal friend of mine I'm from the UK. Failing that and without significant change I don't see these guys being here in two years especially serving what they gave us last night.
Note the food wasn't even cheap, save yourself the pain and heartache go to Slackwater they have four sites in and around Salt Lake their food and service is second to none and only costs a few dollars more.
To Ross (the owner) just to be clear I'm not in anyway connected to Slackwater before you make the claim. I just appreciate great food and service which your place doesn't serve.
Even worse you and your staff seem to take great delight in abusing your customers either during the meal with the trash you serve or after the meal if someone writes you a less than...
