I don't write reviews often or hardly at all, but Sweet T's was definitely unexpected in a great way. So I'll try to keep it short and sweet. We originally looked online at Sweet Ts site which listed BYOB. We booked a reservation online and called to confirm closing time but received no answer. That's okay, we were ready to eat and knew our reservation was set, so we headed out to eat. There is a nice wine and liquor store right next door where we stopped and grabbed a bottle of Bicardi. Upon entering Sweet Ts, the host explained "no HARD alcohol allowed", okay no problem we went back and switched it out for a 6pack of beer. While it was dinner hours, it was only a 1 or 2 tables left still eating, when we walked in, the host and waiter both seemed confused and ready to close up for the night and unaware of our reservation. However, we were still seated and that was fine with me. Victoria/Veronica(our waiter) although seemed a bit ready to get home like any of us after a long shift at work, was very kind, and handled our orders in reasonable time. We ordered the Honey Bbq Wings as the starter which was very saucyyy and veryyy good. So good I wanted to order 2 orders to go b4 my meal arrived but unfortunately the kitchen was closed. For dinner we ordered the braised ribs, lamb cheesesteak which we ordered with a side of mac n cheese and candied yams. EVERY bite had us rushing back to the plate for more. The food was hot, well seasoned, melt in your mouth, and finger lickin' good. Top it off with one of their Mocktails and babyyyyy the idis couldn't hit us any faster. I didn't know if I wanted to stuff myself or take some home for a midnight snack 🤣. All in all service was good, Vee Vee girl had friendly and professional service, the food was amazing, and we even met one the owners Dre who definitely wished us a safe ride home and glad we enjoyed his establishment. Definitely will be back for dinner again soon, thanks again Sweet T! - review written by Jermaine's Wife

Starting with the environment, the decor in the dining room was classy and comfortable from the great artwork on the walls to the little table top lamps. The 70s to 90s R&B music playlist was perfect for keeping the mood chill and relaxed. Now onto the food. We have been here three times already and I can't wait to go back. Each time has been a hit. The different zero alcohol drink options were appreciated and delicious. I went with the sweet tea flight which was fun. For appetizers, we’ve had the deviled eggs, corn bread, biscuits and gravy, wings, and both salads. Each one was just as good with the other. Follow what calls to you. You can't go wrong. And for dinner the braised short rib is plentiful, the shrimp and grits is tasty, and the smothered turkey wings were delicious. My only regret is that we never have room for dessert. Looking forward to going back and enjoying the vibe and food again!!!

After seeing the new location on NEWS 12. I decided to check it out in Teaneck, NJ. Ordered the lamb sandwich which was overpriced and underdelivered. The bread was low quality for texture to the meat and sauce so had no choice but to eat it with knife and fork. It wasn't a hoagie/sub roll. Meat was chunky not shaved. The cake was hard to the touch like three day old cornbread and the fruit was dry. This cake actually looked like a prop. It crumbled when you bit into it and I have a picture of it. I wished I had a pictured of the sandwich. The description of the words were more appealing and appetizing than the sandwich. I contacted the restaurant. Someone gave a number to (HR). After leaving a voicemail I got a text message. I sent picture and asked for at least half of a refund because of my dissatisfied experience. I have not heard back from anyone. Unprofessional and distasteful experience.

I have never received service so horrible in my life and for this alone I will not be back.

Their Teaneck location is called restaurant and bar however, what they fail to tell you is that they do not have a liquor license and the place is BYOB but what they also, fail to tell you is they are not allowed hard alcohols just wine and beer. So my friend and I had to go to the store twice because the host failed to relay this message to us when I asked her if the place was BYOB she said yes. Typically this means you can bring what you want. She never stated strictly just wine and beer.

The server we had only came to our table 3 times. There was no checking to see if we needed anything. She did not come back to tell us if our food was coming out, nothing! Also, we were forced to give her 20% gratuity which was not told to us till we got our check. Personally, I am all about paying people but she did absolutely nothing to paid that amount.

Our food took almost an hour to come to the table. The cornbread was horrendous. However, what I will say my entree was good. However, the service was so bad I wouldn't even want to support them through ordering take out. Just look at their Montclair reviews.

Than to top it off about 1 minute after our food finally came our server handed us the bill telling us our table was reserved for someone else and not to rush but here's the bill. Couldn't order dessert if I wanted to. Also, I have never been to restaurant where my food and bill were delivered to me at the same time.

THEN to make matters worse THE OWNER than came over to our table to RUSH us out. She came over without even greeting us saying hello or checking how our service or meal was and stated " Are your cards in the bill slot?" very rudely. We stated our cards we're in our wallet. The owner than proceeded to state "Well I need your cards because we need this table". Mind you prior, the owner walked around to each table minus ours checking on each table that were "Montclair visitors" and didn't even bother to check on our table. As a bergen county native. I believe our feedback would've been useful as I am familiar and know quite a good amount of people in the area. The owner did not check on us at all. AND after we paid our bill she rudely rushed us out of our table.

I proceeded to relay this exact message in all my group chats because, the service I received at this restaurant was so bad. I don't see them lasting long in this area with service such as this.

I would also suggest the owners read the book Unreasonable Hospitality by Will Guidara to enhance their and their teams customers...

Visited the restaurant to support on a mid-day afternoon. RESTAURANT EMPTY!!! Just one or two couples at most sitting in the back. Did not want to sit up underneath them crampt in their conversations with restaurant TOTALLY EMPTY. Check the safety fire code are all those tables allowed in such a small area. It was about 3:30pm, well before rush hour dinner time and after lunch time on a week day and not a Friday. I saw a nice table and asked to sit over by the window but was denied and basically told sit where we seat you or leave. The hostess had "common sense" and thought well restaurant is empty sure have a seat, welcome. Good for her! Smart caucasian hostess.... BUT...When will WE learn.

NASTY young waitress came over and said you can't sit at a table for 4 that is our policy empty or not. After seeing her attitude, I got up to leave. Ask for her to write her name on a business card....mortgage for restaurant is not in her name, that "sista", Mmm...could care less whether customers stay or go. She refused to write her name, walked away with a NASTY attitude and tone. Said out LOUD, I'm not writing anything, I left and WILL NOT be supporting this establishment.

I eat at MY opinion: Capital Grille 5+ stars, Cheesecake Factory 4+ stars, River Palm Terrace Edgewater 5+ stars, Hillstone 10+ stars and a multitude of other premier restaurants in "professional Bergen County"....If the restaurant is "MOSTLY empty" they will sit you for the most part where you ask, no ignorant rules and flippant attitude. Accommodate the customer... Restaurant is EMPTY!

Here's what's worse. Customer Relations Manager called me and she attempted to spend 15 to 20 minutes trying to CONVINCE me her policy (that is unchangeable) is acceptable. I couldn't be bothered, said good night and ended the call. If you saw this on a highway billboard you'd say it is not true....the good ole store front soul food restaurant. Everyone's wrong but them. Even when I read some of these responses to OTHER customers, the underlying negative tone is, can't you see we are right but the customer is wrong and doesn't understand...I'll take my money elsewhere to a more premier establishment and sit where I prefer. One of several customers lost. She apologized for...
