Shorthorns Tavern & Grill — Restaurant in Terra Alta

If I could possibly give this place a lower rating I would. I hope many will read this. These people advertised to rent their room for events. First we kept trying reaching a manager for weeks to book the room for my daughter's wedding in September. That should have been our first clue. We met with a owner and decided to rent the room. The owner was so kind to tell us that we could even come in the day before and decorate. However we needed to be out by 6:00 after the reception so the room would be open for a band coming in. Still we were thankful. Yesterday, one month before her wedding she gets a call. She was told that there were new owners AND maybe she could have the room ...not sure what hours of course for 5 Times the amount we were being charged. People this us Terra Alta ..there is NO ROOM for GREED in this little town that is hurting so badly. My daughter was only booking there to accommodate the number of guests coming to her wedding and YES planned at Camp Galilee. I'm not ashamed to say she is the manager of that camp and has been part of it for many years. She is kind and she brings so many people to Shorthorns simply to eat out because there is not much in the town. We are devastated that they would treat someone like this, yet relieved because her reception was not meant to be in this...

Are first time eating here definitely give it 10/10 we’re definitely coming back.

My oldest son got the Longhorn Burger and home fries side of ranch and he said it’s really good and that he definitely would get it again.

My youngest son got a pizza he pick what he wanted which is pepperoni, chicken and bbq sauce and cheese and he said it was really good and would definitely get it again.

Hubby got the 6oz Filet steak, home fries side of ranch and loaded baked potato and he said everything was good and would definitely get everything again

I went with the 8oz New York Strip it was good just didn’t care for the fat but once I cut that off it was really good, home fries side of ranch and load baked potato but only reason I went with the New York strip steak was because I couldn’t remember if I like my steak cut like that but next time I’m getting the filet.

Are waiter was awesome and always check on us, made sure we didn’t need anything, made sure are cups stay filled with are drinks and made sure everything tasted good which yes it did. Walked in at about 530, it was almost entirely empty other than myself, this felt extremely weird cause it's just a big open room, but that can't really be helped. Got a steak dinner. Salad was full of chopped onions so you couldn't avoid them, but seemed like it would have been good had that not been true. Asked for Italian Dressing and seemingly was given creamy Italian, if they had mentioned that I would have passed on it, but it ultimately didn't matter because of all the onions. Steak was okay, possibly a little over done, but fine. Veg for the day was green beans, they were far too mushy for my taste, but they were covered in garlic with some onions, so if those things are positives to you, maybe you'll like them. Mash potatoes and gravy tasted like both were just cheap instant stuff off any random store shelf. They recommended I come back for their steak night. If I wasn't just passing through, I would probably come back to see if that's a better experience. I wasn't upset about the meal, but wasn't thrilled about it either.
