Slim Chickens — Restaurant in Texarkana

We found Slim Chickens by Googling “great salads Texarkana”. We are on the road and wanted to eat as healthy as possible. When we walked up to the entrance and heard Stevie Ray Vaughn, I was happy. The signs outside mentioned a milkshake for $1.99 and a chicken pecan salad - woo hoo! A wonderfully Friendly young woman behind the counter told all the ingredients in the salad... perfect. We both ordered the milkshakes... fabulous. But...

When I got the salad, it looked oddly empty. 2 small cucumbers and one large... pretty skimpy. When I went to toss my ingredients, I couldn’t find any pecans, and no feta. Why would they SERVE a salad WITHOUT two of the main ingredients???

There were only two other salads available, neither of which appealed to me, so the manager offered a refund. Fine. The whole reason we chose this restaurant over many others was the salad... so then while we’re sitting there for a minute I decide to check the receipt. Yes, I was refunded for the salad but I was charged $3.99 for the shake! What???

Turns out that’s because you have to order it with a meal to get the $1.99 price. So I have to go back up to the register, by now, livid, but still not raising my voice or being ugly or anything... to point this out. I mean it wasn’t MY fault that they served the salad I wanted incomplete. The manager asks me if I want a refund. Uh, Yes, I do, then she tries to guilt me by saying she’ll part for it out of her pocket.

What would have been a good review was spoiled by some employees who screwed up and a manager who didn’t handle an upset...

My family and i eat here more than i would care to admit. I tried the mushrooms yesterday and i am sitting here wishing it were an hour later. I would like to point out one particular person we had serving us a few nights ago, Jazz. The b.e.s.t. service i have had anywhere, fast food and non. I watched as she completed tasks with excellence, going above and beyond with even the most menial of tasks. While doing each task with such focus, she was still able to easily break away and give full attention to anyone who came in. She even noticed I would need more lemons, brought me some, refilled my drink and then refilled the lemon box. I walked up to the counter, she was taking someone's order and another associate was just standing there. She instructed him to get me a small box, Mac and cheese kids and a bag. He hadn't even noticed I was there yet. She was serving someone yet remembered what i had ordered and mentally knew what i would be coming up to ask for....seriously! Jazz is management material. In all our trips there, that was my first encounter with her and days later I was still so impressed I had to...

so it all started when I ordered a 5 peice chicken meal, after waiting for 36 minutes, I finally received my chicken. then I soon realized I only had 3 tenders, plus a honey mustard in which I did not order. I looked over at my buddy and he had 5 tenders, I looked back at my meal and there were only 2 tenders. out of the corner of my eye I saw movement, I looked over and saw a rat dragging my chicken away. the rat with the chicken then got jumped by another rat, I watched them have a battle to the death. it was legendary. I went to break the fight up and get my chicken and then I got bite by the rat.
