I come to the shopping strip next door several times a month and the lines are always really long at this place so I finally stopped by tonight to see what all the fuss was about since it was not so busy.
I went to get my husband a pina colada smoothie; didn't think it would be such a hassle! First, there are no posted prices, then they have no signs regarding the fact they only accept cash (boo- I don't generally carry $), and then the drink comes and wow-- terrible! I'm glad I only got the 16 oz ($3.25+tax) rather than the larger 32 oz ($5.25+tax).
The drink itself was gross-- watery consistency (nothing close to identifying as a smoothie), flavor was really syrupy and tasted mostly coconut as if the maker had never tasted a pina colada drink before. I do not recommend. My husband took one sip and was done with it. I tried drinking the thing so as not to have wasted the money and half an hour later I've got a stomachache and regret at not dumping it down the drain at earliest opportunity.
Only good note is that service was...
Read moreI haven't been to many of these Mexican fruit places (mostly because I thought the menu consisted of not much more than fruit cups with chili powder; turns out I was wrong), so I can't really compare this place to other similar places. I can, however, say that I had the most refreshing and delicious dessert at this one.
It was called Strawberry Delight, and it consisted of strawberry Mexican ice cream (more icy than creamy), with fresh strawberries, and then some sort of cream drizzled over the top (less like whipped cream and more like a very thin icing). It was delicious, and I've gone back twice for it.
This place has a drive through, which is cool, but there is also a large outdoor seating area, half of which is covered, with lots of picnic tables. Couldn't see the kitchen, but the outside area was kept very clean, so I assume the same for the inside. Prices were reasonable, and they were pretty quick with our order. I'll not only go again, I've also told several people...
Read moreFirst visit yesterday evening. Although it was a great change from the normal, it was nothing I couldn't get elsewhere. As mentioned with others, this is a CASH ONLY place, and no prices are posted. A sign or some indication of cash only would be nice before ordering and the attendant request for payment. Service for walk up customers is second priority to the drive thru.
I ordered the "Elote", which is traditionally a Mexican roasted corn. My order of corn came straight out of a large pot of boiling water, and had zero flavor of being roasted. More than likely corn from a can. Topped with a wide variety of options, to include: butter, mayonnaise, salt, pepper, parmigiano cheese and red salsa. Overall flavor was not bad at about $4 for a large cup. Not sure I'd order it again though. If I returned, I'd probably lean more towards getting some ice cream, as the posted photos look...
