Update: We went for steak night Tuesday. Ms. K the bartender was absolutely 💯 AND took care of us like we were at a high $$$ steakhouse. She's always so kind and really makes you feel like you're her only customer. Take a chance on a hole in a wall joint thats a staple to our area and pray to little baby jesus that you get Ms. K! We will see you asap!
Uncle Albert's is a neighborhood staple. A cornerstone. Yet, I hadn't gone since covid. Popped in for a drink and dinner on a whim. Close to home and always a solid choice, and I wasn't wrong this time. Relaxed atmosphere with a lot of diffrent people. Our bartender/server was sweet, funny and attentive. Not once did I have to ask for a refill. She had a sixth sense when I needed a drink. As wonderful as she was ? THE FOOD WAS EVEN BETTER. I had the chicken tenders and fries. Folks this isn't some Sysco ready to heat and eat. MY FRIES WERE HOMEMADE AND BEYOND THIS WORLD. Chicken tenders were tender and flavored like somebody's mama taught them how to cook. My date had a specialty burger. PEOPLE GO ORDER IT NOW. I have never in all my 40 years of life had a burger that damn good. ever. Let me be clear. The meal tasted like someone cooked it with love in their heart and seasoning on their mind. We've vowed to go once a week to grab dinner here after our first bite. Thanks Uncle Albert's for being even better than I remember. See you on...
Read moreI came here once or twice years ago for karaoke, when it was Uncle Albert's. After being on the Bar Rescue show and changing to Big W Cattle Company, tonight (Wednesday almost 8 p.m.) is my second time in here. I came inside and went straight to the bathroom. I walked up to the urinal, and noticed right away that the door, if it was open and/or still swinging shut, exposed the urinal user to the bar room. It surprised me, because it was an obvious design flaw overlooked by the Bar Rescue people. The bathroom needed attention. Water on the floor. The right side urinal was OOC in a big way. No hot water when I went to wash my hands. They did have soap, and either a hand dryer or towels, and cold water, but it bothers me that the male staff who use these facilities will not be washing their hands with hot water. The bartender, Keesa, really turned it around for me regarding my feelings about this place and this review. She approached me promptly after I sat down, with confidence and a smile. Very good attitude, which is rare for bartenders in this region. She took very good care of me. Never had to wait for a drink. While this place has an absolute gem of a bartender, there are some serious management problems here that should be addressed quickly before someone emails Trejo about it. Keesa really turned it around though. She single-handedly took y'all from 1...
Read moreWhat I love about dive bars are the prices, and good food. This place is expensive and the foods not good. It’s an extremely, embarrassingly bad bar. They’ve remodeled and changed the name. Prices are similar to what you’d find at an upscale bar around downtown Houston area. I ordered the chopped cheese burger - It came on untoasted plain white bread, no lettuce, no tomato. Fries were not crisp. Everything was unseasoned. Whoever was cooking couldn’t be bothered to even add salt. Icing on top was the DJ playing music so loud on a Thursday you couldn’t hold a conversation to the person next to you.
Hire a new cook and turn the music down and this place may be salvageable.
Update: Looking at old photo’s of this place and wow! It looks awesome. Not sure who decided they were going to ruin it but long live...
