I met with the new manager today, he mentioned to me he has been at this location for about 5 months. Today the food was awesome. The flavor and hot temperature were excellent, and I was very surprised because my last visit a couple of months ago the food was cold, and it looked and tasted depressed like no one working had a care at all with no passion what was being served and it was blah. The country gravy that day was runny like water, so I asked the older lady manager about it and (never seen the real new manager at all that day) she told me it will thicken up eventually. Well, I was there since 11:10 a.m. and it was now noon when I asked her, and it was still like water (and when I say watery, I mean watery), so maybe about 3p.m. I should return for thicker country gravy. That day I decided that I would never return just like the rest of my family already decided not to months ago. I used to visit years ago sometimes a couple of times a week along with the rest of my family before it started going downhill. But today I am glad that I decided to give it another try because this Golden Corral used to be my favorite location besides the one in Baytown also before it closed. But it seems to me I can only go there now when the new manager is on the premises if you want excellent food. Hopefully, the new manager can get the older lady manager on board for what he is trying to accomplish because that day a couple of months ago when he was not there, it was a very disappointing experience. By the way, I am a retired chef that has had many years of restaurant experience running a kitchen, working the line buffet style 5K+ (Aramark Corporation), banquet catering chef 5K+ and convention center chef 5K+ so I know exactly what I am talking about when I critique a restaurant and do not think you fooled me for one minute when you handed me that bologna about the white gravy thickening up. For everything is supposed to be presentable to your guests the moment you open your buffet line and if you do not know that you are in the wrong line of work. However, kudos to the new manager for an excellent buffet that I witnessed today. If you can get the rest of your staff on board to your philosophy of how a kitchen should be run, you will be and have a great success. And also, a welcoming line of guests out your front door always every day, like I used to have when I use to run all of my past kitchens. Good luck and may great fortune be paved on the path...
Read moreI met my family here after church yesterday and coming in it was very crowded, expecting that for a Sunday. Found seating grabbed a plate and fork but the fork was dirty kept grabbing them and i kid you not i picked up 4 dirty forks. By this time im disgusted i go over to the manager which was a tall white man and addressed the concern and asked for plastic ware,he stated that they were out. Are you freaking kidding me? All of the silverware are practically dirty and no plastic ware. Im so disgusted by this point. My couisin at another table had a cup of hot water dipping the silverware in that my family was using. So i went ahead and did the same and attempted to try and eat . I just couldn't i was so uncomfortable that i had to dip my fork in hot water to try and sterilize it. I should have never even used it period. I was only there 20 minutes before i walked over to a lady at soda fountain letting her know the soda tasted like carbonated water she reassured me it may be the ice,i couldnt believe this lady was saying this and she continued to let customers get drinks so i immediately asked her for a refund. She did give it to me but i had to miserably sit there because i had over 15 family members seated. I am up writing this review because i have become sick i have been up on toilet and throwing up for the last 4 hours. I am so disgusted and can't believe these people dont take pride in their place of business where others come and dine in. Will never go back there but this is not the last time they will...
Read moreHappy Thanksgiving! My family and I tend to make it a tradition to get up early and wait in line for the best dinner rolls in town to enjoy a great Thanksgiving dinner. Today we went to this location in good spirits feeling thankful to be awake this morning and being with our family's. My husband and I went in and ordered 10 dozen but miscalculated and needed 5 more boxes. So he went in and tried and she said, Weren't you just in here?" He said, Yes and she quickly told him No in the ugliest way a cashier can answer. ( Mind you, earlier we seen her snap at her Manager because she didnt know how to charge something.)
