First time to sit down and eat here. Such a fun little place for a bite to eat. Unfortunately years ago, the bus caught on fire and they had to take part of it away. But the front of the bus with the driver's seat and a few of the rows of seats are still there for pictures and fun for kids and maybe adults too. ☺️
As far as seating, there's a screened porch with tables to sit at, a patio with a larger table and umbrella to sit outside, a couple of tables inside as well and a couple of tables right up near the bus so you can still feel like you're eating "on the bus".
Rick, the manager, and his business partner whose name I unfortunately did not catch, are wonderful, caring people. Both of them continued to check on us and chit chat with us as we sat forever waiting on my 3 year old to finish eating. They offered us samples of homemade desserts such as cherries jubilee, banana pudding, and even gave our son some ice cream when he was done eating.
There was a bit of a wait on our food but only because it is cooked fresh to order and trust me it is SO worth it!! I forgot to take pictures before we started eating but my husband got a Texas sized spud topped to the brim with brisket, cheese and other typical baked potato yummies. I got a double sausage plate with the most delicious green beans I've ever tasted, and the sausage is fresh and smoked with that yummy genuine BBQ taste unlike some of the chain places that tend to be a little bland. We got some Mac and cheese for my kiddo and it was DELICIOUS! Though I will warn if anyone has kids that are as picky as ours, the Mac and cheese is made with penne pasta and looks different from "regular" Mac and cheese. It's absolutely delicious but if your kid is like ours, different equals "nope I'm not gonna touch it".
The ONLY reason I didn't give 5 stars is that I wish there was a kid's menu. Just a couple simple more kid friendly items like a hotdog/corndog or some chicken strips or something. Just because I know we're not the only parents with a super picky kid and it's always frustrating when you know the food is delicious but you still have to go somewhere else afterwards because your kid won't eat what they have.
They did go out of their way to try to find something he would eat. He ended up finally eating some sausage bites and a bag of chips but a hotdog would've gone a long way.
Overall, great place to stop and enjoy this beautiful weather and some time to just enjoy the day with family and/or friends. Fantastic owners and super friendly! We will ABSOLUTELY be...
Read moreAfter passing by for years and years I met the cook behind it all and decided I'd come by and try the place out. In short, the food was great. Service was great. I ordered a little bit of everything to really try out the consistency of the food across the menu, and was there within an hour of closing to see how it all was. The sausage was fantastic, I didn't ask for sauce like I normally would because it actually had good flavor to it. The spicy boudin had some great flavor and was just a tad on the spicier side for me, but I still finished it as it had a great flavor. The ribs were absolutely perfect. The seasoning was spot on and they were cooked exactly right. The pulled pork was a tad different than I had before in terms of the seasoning but I thought it worked very well and is something I will get again. The meat pie has a great filling and the ratio is good, feels like a full meal for a kid, but a quick light lunch even for an adult. The okra was great, as others have mentioned. I tried some fried corn and they were great as well. The desserts I tried were the peach cobbler and the banana pudding cake, which were both great to me. The cake is something I'd never thought of before but it was very nicely done. We also tried the loaded baked potato with a side of the mac and cheese, both were very flavorful and the portions were quite big. Everything that we didn't finish we took home and will definitely finish later. I will absolutely be bringing...
Read moreMy husband and I traveled more than 25 miles on several occasions to this fine eatery. We stopped in after church on Sunday, and Ms. Choice, the barbeque princess, and the Pit Master, Barbeque Rick, greeted us with warm, friendly smiles. They have added a new family member to the team, and his name is Horatio, and he was gracious and kind. They spiced up the macaroni and cheese, which is more creamy and flavorful than ever! The brisket is tender, juicy, and delicious; the ribs are the same and the chicken is nothing short of unending flavor. The portion sizes will leave you with at least two meals, especially the stuffed baked potatoes and turkey legs. Do not pass through; please stop, sit, and stay for a bit because the menu items' flavors will dance between your tongue and palate. Your taste buds will be in for a fantastic treat. Don't forget to ask for the homemade lemonade and other options; they are refreshing! We will be back, and so will our friends. Thank you for the best barbecue in Huffman and...
