Looks like management has changed? Ordered Palak Paneer, Chicken Handi, Chapatis she Chai. Service provided by Devi was excellent. Food arrived promptly and was tasty, particularly the pPalak Paneer. Chicken in the Handi was very tender. Ordered Palak Paneer, Mixed Dal and Baingan Curry with 2 orders of Jeera Rice to go. Upon reaching home, found Palak Paneer missing. Remaining dishes were fine - Dal was very tasty, Baingan lacked flavor but was well-cooked. Jeera Rice had curry leaves in it, unusually; tasted less of Jeera and more of Curry Leaves, but flavorful nonetheless. Pricing and quantity were reasonable. Going back there again soon!
Apr 2022 Visit: Ordered potato and chicken bun kebabs with fries. Both were tasty and filling, fries were crisp and not greasy - hit the spot. Understand new menu is arriving …looking forward to improved management, offerings and taste. Current ones are hit or miss…will go back for rolls and kebabs again.
Jan 16, 2021 update provided to restaurant (no response) and repeated here:
.some feedback on the food I picked up last night. Meat rolls were good, however, veggie roll was not! It was just a mush of some veggies with raw chilli powder. Similarly, the other dishes like Paneer too had just raw Chilli powder thrown on them to make spicy - not cooked through at all. All we tasted was Chilli powder. Your previous dishes I had ordered before the current menu were very good. Unfortunately, the new menu is pricey and fails to deliver. Sorry, just giving you honest feedback. I paid a lot for the meal and was not fully satisfied.
Great place, so close to home-just at the edge of the neighborhood. Clean and well-stocked. Friendly owner/staff...hope they expand their produce range. Can find almost everything we need grocery-wise. So glad...
Read moreThe only reason I am giving Kohinoor a 4 star instead of 5 is that the manager was not wearing a mask. We, the store staff, and all the other customers had our masks on. They even had masks available at the front of the store.
He was eager to help and offered us tea. I felt uncomfortable because he was not extending the one courtesy I expected - to wear a mask. I hope he reads this and is more careful in the future. My husband I went in full protective gear to check the store out and order lunch.
The meat department has a window and the kitchen is behind it, so they are not visible unless you ask. The meat department was clean and the person cutting meat wore a mask. The manager came out and took our order up front for lunch. The food was great as you will see below, much less salty and better spiced than from the Indian restaurant where we have been ordering.
The saag paneer, tikka masala, Indian spiced rice, and naan were excellent and in large portions. Next time I would ask for all white meat in the Tikka Masala and ask for extra chicken for which I would gladly pay. The naan were large and fresh. It was ready in about 15 minutes. The manager said if we left our phone number they would text us daily specials. I will call ahead and pick up in the future. The store was clean and well organized, and the prices were good. My best buy was a 3 lb. bag of raw almonds for about $10. Indian ingredients were a much better price than the grocery store. Most products were available in multiple brands and sizes. There was some fresh produce and I purchased small speckled Indian eggplants and fresh okra. My husband did notice a fresh mango cake he was interested in was out of date. This store recently opened and I hope they stay open. If you like authentic Indian food in generous portions...

Chef Zaheer had a long resume of impressive restaurant and hotel catering positions in many countries in the past. He is ultra friendly. The first few times they didn't even charge me for tea to go. I have seen them sitting at a table, dining with their staff together. That's the mark of a good owner.
Food: They've decided to focus the menu on a few unique high quality items and perfect them and so far that looks to be a very good strategy. I tried the green chutney chicken and it was very tender. The chicken zinger burger also hit the spot.
Tea/Chai: I absolutely love the tea here because it's karak and flavorful. I frequently stop by to get some on my way home. It is bold and really goes well with anything.
Buffets: They have a Wednesday night nihari buffet that looks out of this world with unlimited bone marrow versus what you'll pay 20 bucks for at a restaurant.
They have a Sunday buffet with breakfast that will knock you out and make you sleep the rest of the day because there are so many items.
I've yet to try out more as as they get situated. Heard the biryani and bihari are good.
They even are offering a daily lunch tiffin delivery for the same price as fast food, but in this case you'll get a home cooked meal.
Very innovative and nice folks. Give them a try. They will come by and talk to you and are a blast...
