We came here on Tuesday, 10/8/24, at 7pm. It was myself, my husband, our daughter, another couple and their kids. So, 4 adults and 3 kids. The place was busy, which is fine, we can wait but we also didn’t expect to be completely ignored or see other ppl’s food come out even though we ordered before them.
We sit down, the waitress takes our drink order and we get one appetizer and my daughter’s food. Then, we finish our drinks (margaritas, so it took awhile) and still no appetizer or my daughter’s order. The waitress is running around and doesn’t make any eye contact. We wave her down and she brings the appetizer and takes our food order. We order more drinks. Then, I start seeing ppl who got there after us get their food, so I called for the waitress and asked what was happening (at this point we’ve been there for over an hour). She tells me that the other ppl’s orders are “simpler”, which was confusing bc my husband and I ordered fajitas (so, technically 1 item), the other adults got something for themselves and one of their kids, bc the other kid was already asleep on my friend’s lap (so, 3 items).. so, she was trying to say that our 4 entres were more complicated than 2-3 other tables that got their food before us? Fine, I tell her, if our food isn’t out by the time we finish our 2nd round of drinks, we’re leaving (we can’t sit there all night). A few minutes later, the kitchen staff brings out our food and the waitress walks by and says something like “it’s not my problem! It’s the kitchen.” In what reality, is this appropriate behavior… I don’t know, but since our food came out, we decided to stay.
I mean, clearly, the waitress put in our order after several other tables, so she made a mistake but felt the need to make rude comments at us? Then, we get our bill and there’s automatic gratuity on it! For these ppl to think that we are paying gratuity for incompetent and rude service is pretty insane. So, I go to the manager and tell him that we’re paying zero gratuity for the service we just got. He removed it.. but the point is, go at your own risk, you may wait forever and get yelled...
Read moreThis is one of my Daughter's faves. It was My first time here, my wife's 3rd or 4th. Everything was excellent. The chips were fresh, light and crispy. The red sauce is excellent. It's warm and has a slightly smokey salsa flavor that is very good (my wife's fave) . The green sauce was one of the best I've had compared to most local competition (my fave). I got the seafood enchiladas and they were very good, also better than most the local competition. My wife got the huevos Mexicana (also one of her faves) and said it was the best she had in awhile, and she orders it from other locations on a regular basis. I'll definitely be going back. Unfortunately It doesn't look like they deliver, at least I couldn't find them on Doordash, Grubhub, or Uber eats when I looked during the lunch hour, which would explain why I hadn't had them before (I do delivery often lately, and only eat in on occasion, which I will definitely be doing when I go back. The only knock I could give at this moment is that they are a little on the high side as far as cost, not as bad as some main stream, but not as cheap as many local competitors. That said, they were better than many of the local as well. The service was also good. Finally, working in restraints myself way back in the day, my wife and I are sticklers on Tea. Many places don't clean the tea containers between uses, and you can taste it. This place does Not fall in this category, there tea was excellent, which is unlike many of the local...
Read moreAll kidding aside, they don't sell themselves short. The atmosphere seems to meld to one's anticipation. Even with the many modern t.v's and the high definition projection of the Astros attempt to seize a seventh straight win, conversing with whomever may be at your table is discernible. With many appetizers to choose from ( I chose the Stuffed Jalapenos which undoubtedly were great ) and a menu featuring traditional to authentic Mexican dishes, one can not be disappointed. Feeling quite "thuggish", for my entree I decided on the Fajitas 911; sautéed onions, tomatoes, jalapeño peppers, dry pepper and cilantro (mucho caliente) with a choice of chicken, steak or a mix. With an average wait time my food arrived sizzling hot on an iron skillet dressed with a side of pico, guacamole and rice. It could have not been better. ( Barring it arrive with signed divorce papers I sent to my wife 1 year, seven months and 19 days ago.) In all, for a great meal, morning, noon or night, el Chaparro...
