I know this is a well liked restaurant however our experience today was plain horrible! It was on a Sunday afternoon. My mom and I asked for soft tortilla tacos (3 each). The service took almost an hour, when we got our food it seemed as of they just took it out of the fridge!! The tortilla was colder than cold and so hard. I told Jacob (our waiter) and he very kindly took them back to "fix it" since he personally touched the tortilla and confirmed it was cold and hard. Her he comes with our tacos again and as I touched them , they were exactly the same except this time the inside food felt a bit warmer. I asked Jacob to just bring me some warm tortillas and I will place my food over the new tortillas. He was so embarrassed that he told me he will take care of it personally and he did. He brought me some warm tortillas and I just poured the now cold food on them. My poor mom could not eat anything. Some relatives shared some of their food with her and I just ate the most horrible tacos I have ever had in my life! I am very sorry this happened to such a well known place but definitely there is a need for improvement and better management! There were only two waitresses serving, and they seem overwhelmed. I do want to point out that Jacob went above and beyond by offering to warm up some tortillas. It was not his job and if it wasn't for this, I would have starved to dead. In addition the drinks were also horrible. They were flavorless! Ice tea and lemonade and some other drink my tia asked for. I went safe and just had a beer! Oh and to close this sad comment, my bill came out to $125 for 4 people !!!!! NEVER EVER GOING BACK TO THIS PLACE.

Finally made it out here to give this place a try and so glad we did! Little Diner has been around since 1976. The building is older with plenty of tables and chairs inside. We heard they are known for their Gorditas so we ordered different ones to try them out, we ordered one with chile Verde, one with chile colorado, meat which is ground beef and one with barbacoa. We must say the Chile Colorado and the ground beef will be the ones we order again! The gorditas did not have too much masa but were still super filling! The plates come with rice and beans. They do charge $1.99 for chips and salsa but they give you plenty for the price. For dessert, we ordered sopaipillas and they were super tasty. The service was great, you can seat yourself and they'll bring you some menus. It was easy to pay because the check had a bar code you can scan with your phone to check out. Definitely recommend trying this place just like some famous people have in the past such as President Bush. Fun fact: This hole-in-the-wall was featured on Jeopardy in 2008.

Not impressed. And that is unfortunate since I had heard so many good things about the Little Diner and went out of my way to try it. The food was average at best, with some items just plain bad. For example, the tortilla for my chicken enchilada was mushy, the cheese enchilada was just a rolled up tortilla with red sauce and shredded cheese on top, and the chile rellenos were oily and full of seeds. The gorditas were dense, but passable. On top of all this, the prices were quite high and you were charged for chips and salsa, a predominantly free appetizer at most eateries. This was probably my least enjoyable mexican food dining experience I've had in the El Paso area, and I moved here in 1978. I do not reccomend.

We went to the restaurant since we were craving the gorditas of red chile colorado but we were very disappointed by the taste and texture of the gordita shells. They were hard and difficult to eat making the plate not what we were expecting. The shells tasted like they were made earlier and heated causing them to get hard. The sad part is that we don't even live close to the restaurant but we were craving the gorditas and decided to make the drive to just leave disappointed about the food. Its sad that the restaurant that usually has good food got lazy and made the gorditas shells earlier and just heated them up when someone orders them. Former President Bush went to eat at that restaurant and I'm sure he wouldn't have been served heated gordita shells made earlier but instead the restaurant should consider is that the Former President only went once and we locals are the ones that continue to go and keep the business open and should be given fresh food like any other customer like former President Bush who I'm sure didn't even pay for the food compared to us customers that actually paid $14.95 for a plate of gorditas that were old. Not to mention that the plate is pretty expensive but would pay it if the food would have been eatable. I don't like to return food and now regret not returning that plate because the gorditas were horrible. We are the chile colorado with chips and left the hard gordita shells in the plate. That day our choice was Little Dinner gorditas or Kiki's which unfortunately we made the wrong choice of not going to Kiki's. For sure we won't be back to Little Diner which is a shame because their salsa is good, the chile con queso can be a hit or miss since sometimes it tastes burned but its still eatable compared to those old gordita super hard uneatable shells. I never write reviews but I feel that the restaurant who once had good food and a full restaurant may be losing returning customers because of laziness to prepare fresh food. I wished i would have taken a picture of the hard uneatable gordita shells now that I see I can upload a picture yet my intention was not to go and write a review but to eat what once was good food not to mention we spent $60 dollars for 3 plates. I think the main reason I'm writing this review is not to diss the restaurant but maybe for them to read this review and help them become what they once were a really good restaurant...

LIZETTE was INCREDIBLY RUDE to us! I waited a couple of minutes and she came and got drink orders. I asked for a minute to decide on our order. At the same time, I texted a picture of the menu so I could take food to someone else. 12 minutes later I went to front to try and order. She saw me and asked if I was ready. I told her yes and that I'd been waiting for 12 minutes. She said she'd be right there. 3 minutes later she came and stood way across from us. I tried to tell her one of the menu items four times, but she couldn't hear me because she had her back turned to us and was so far away. I told her never mind and went to the front again. She followed me, came around to the side where I was waiting to talk to the other lady, and smiled and said, "she's leaving. I'm the only one." I asked for the manager, and she said "no". I went back to the table and told my husband. She followed me again, and said, "are you going to order, because I have other customers." Wow! She HAD us as customers!! But she refused to give us service! I went and let the other lady who was leaving know we were leaving too! I asked for the name of the other waitress who wouldn't help us, and she heard me and said, with a smile again," my name is Lizette." She then apologized to the other customers......are you kidding me?! Shame on Little Diner for having such a rude and...
