I have to express my dissatisfaction with this particular establishment. There aren't a lot of options within delivery range, so despite us never having a positive experience my wife continues to order from here.
Tonight, like many nights before she placed an order for delivery. 2 large pizzas and an order of cheesy bread. She placed the order at 6:11pm, and was given a delivery time of 22-33 minutes.
At 7:12pm she called inquiring as to the current estimated time of arrival. The girl that answered told her that they were just coming out of the oven, and that they would be taking them to us directly. Cool.
The delivery driver showed up at 7:36pm, apologizing for it taking so long... hmm but didn't he just leave? The credit card receipt he handed to us was ours, but it had already been signed by someone else... not cool.
The pizza was what was ordered, but was stone cold. It didn't come out of an oven 24m prior. It looked over an hour old, like it was riding around in a car on the wrong route, and had been delivered to someone else.
Called and spoke with the same girl, who quickly handed me off to the manager Fred, a man just bursting at the seams with personality... He offered to replace the order in the future for free. I respectfully declined as that doesn't assist in feeding myself nor my family this evening.
Fred skirted responsibility now blaming his staff, two such individuals were cited as not having come in for work. Unreliable staff sure is a pain in the butt, so is cold pizza delivery an hour late.
Only after some no doubt uncomfortable silence did he get the drift and "let me keep the pizza" and "void the transaction" albeit with a begrudging tone.
Super sweet Fred, way to manage.
Ending the call I just got this nagging feeling Fred thought I was a thief, sitting merrily enjoying my gratis pizza. I'm a lot of things, but a pizza pilferer I am not.
I did what any man would do, fearing his reputation sullied. I hopped in my car, unowned pizza in tow, and drove up to return my ill given gains. It took me a whooping 8 minutes to arrive door to door, covering the 6mi of -straight freeway- between us.
I calmly walked in the empty lobby at 8:12pm , placed the pizzas on the counter and was shortly greeted by a young man. I asked him if he was Fred, he said no, and then popped around the corner calling out his name.
Another young man came up front. I asked if he was Fred? He just stared at me but offered no answer. Again I asked are you Fred? to which he answer uh yes. I'm not sure Fred wanted to be Fred at this given moment.
I gingerly slid the pizza boxes across the counter into space I'd determined his and offered them back to him, stating simply "I didn't want you to go to bed tonight thinking I was at home enjoying free pizza" to which he said "ah well oh"
I then left, telling him to watch how he talks to customers...
Read moreThe pizza I got from this Papa John's blew me away. I had a couple bad experiences with a different location a few years ago, and had been avoiding going back to eating Papa John's. When a friend suggested them and explained how their toppings were different than Pizza Hut's and Domino's, I thought I'd give them one more shot. And to really test the waters, I requested a unique pie so I could try out all the differences in one go.
First and foremost, the mushrooms Papa John's uses are bigger, tastier, and way fresher than anything I ever got from the other large pizza chains. In some of my return visits, I asked to see the mushrooms before they were cooked on the pizza, and they looked even better than if I had bought whole mushrooms and sliced them at home! For another section of my first trial pizza, I went with ham and pineapple, which was fantastic as well. The ham is real chunks of ham, unlike the stuff other places use that looks like someone cut up some cheap ham sandwich deli meat. For the very rare third section of the pie that I tried was anchovies- which is less and less available in pizza places. And even though I was a very picky customer that asked the pizza maker to run my pizza through the oven an extra minute or two (because I do like my fish extra dry and well done), they didn't grumble or complain, just did what they could to make me happy.
I'm now a very big fan of Papa John's, particularly this location in New Caney. A few of the delivery drivers I've met have been very kind, even though I live on a third floor, and do well to chit chat and be friendly while I take probably forever to pay them. I'm very happy with the manager Garrett, who also informed me you can order -just- the pepperoncini peppers, which are totally one of my fave things about Papa John's! And if you're lucky enough to get the very shy driver James or very booming Mike, good on you! Those are my favorite delivery guys so far. :)
All in all, this is a very good store with great pizza. I will be recommending...
Read moreI'm not a fan of leaving really bad reviews. But this place earned one so much that I just can't help myself. Ok first of all the girl that answers the phone and works the counter is not knowledgeable, condescending when u ask questions, and one of the most unfriendly ppl I've seen. I had issues using the website, which was already frustrating. I have a very sweet and cheerful personality. I tried to make her laugh with no success. I asked if my reward bucks and gift card were still ok after a malfunction on the website. Her answer was rude. "Did u send the order?" I answered that the button wouldn't let me and with attitude she says "well... Then u didn't". Then i thanked her for her help. No "ur welcome". No smile. She made me feel uncomfortable and belittled. So then I had to call her a second time to just place the order after getting tired of trying on the website. Then on top of it all the restaurant smelt VERY strongly or something unpleasant.. Like moth balls. Which made it hard to even be hungry after smelling. All I'm saying is if someone needs help, don't call that place and ask her. Y'all are gonna lose business that way. Cause I'm not going back. And I'm telling others not to go either. It's a shame to have to buy pizza elsewhere or a further location from my house. Oh and the cherry on top? Their credit card machine is confusing with the tip buttons, I wasn't sure if it tipped from the card and by the end of it between confusion with the machine and her attitude, I wrote 0 on the receipt thinking it already added the tip before I paid since it wouldn't let me slide my card til I picked a tip option. AND SHE CHECKED WHAT I WROTE RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME AS IF SHE EXPECTED HERSELF A NICE TIP...and as if it were possible she had even more attitude wash across her face when she saw the 0 (mind u I tried to add it to the card and I wasn't gonna tip twice for someone who didn't deserve ONE tip) her behavior just shocked me. She was the only girl there, 5pm, ...
