Reading some of the previous reviews, my expectations were low, but I was very pleasantly surprised.
The service was great. They filled up our chips and salsa almost immediately upon running low. They came by several times and asked if we needed anything, but not so much that it was annoying. The place was about half full, so not sure if that was a factor. Anyway, nothing to complain about there.
The queso was great. I didn't have a can of Rotel dumped into it, but I actually prefer it that way. Rotel has a kind of metallic taste. If you want a Rotel like queso, just mix some salsa in and it's even better than Rotel. The salsa is top notch AND it comes warm which I love.
The beans and rice were good. They seemed a little less salty than I'm used to, but I prefer that as well. There's too much salt in everything already. If you want you can always add more.
I tried the chicken quesadilla and while I thought the queso was little bland, my kid loved it. I got the pambazo which is a basically a torta with potatos and a teeny bit of chorizo, where the bread is slathered in something called red guajillo pepper sauce. Not many places serve it, but it is really good. The one here was made in a way I'm not accustomed to. The ones I've had had the guajillo pepper sauce baked into the bread. Here, it was slathered on after the fact, making the bread wet. It still tasted delicious, but you have to eat it with a fork and knife unless you're willing to make a huge mess, and there's no saving it for later unless you're a fan of soggy bread. Maybe it's a regional variation? Not a big fan of doing this way, but like I said, it was still good.
Prices were not great, but not horrible either. All in all, really good. If this place was closer to my home I'd come here often. For now this will be my...
Read moreWe were seated at a table around 7:50 pm. It took our waitress around 10 minutes to finally take our drinks, and when finished she stated that she would return for our orders. Another 10 minutes passes by and she never returns. At this time, a group of customers comes in and are seated. Another waitress comes by and takes their order while our waitress is MIA. The other waitress finishes taking the order of the group that came in AFTER us and informs us that she will be taking ours now as well (what happened to our original waitress?). She takes our order and then we begin to wait on our food.
Around 8:25 the group that came in 20 minutes after me receives their food and begins to eat. Keep in mind they had a group of 5 and mine was only 2 people. They ordered before us so it would only be fair that their food comes before ours (even though we were there 20 minutes before them), but I was content with waiting a little bit longer. However, the time reaches 8:40 and still no food. My girlfriend and have watched 3 other groups of people come in, get there food, eat, and leave. At 8:43 I am so disappointed and disgusted at the service I was receiving I pay throw a 20 on the table to cover the margarita and sprite we had and walk out of the establishment. I could understand if the restaurant was busy but it wasn’t even 1/4 of the way full. The staff didn’t bother to explain why it was taking so long or even check on us.
I’ve never in my life had service that was so horrendous. Idk of it was because we are people of color or what, but I will never be going back to that...
Read moreI am super bummed about the experience we had last night. We walked in around 8 pm and all the tables were empty. We sat down and it took about 10 minutes for someone even to come take our drink order. We finally ordered drinks and we felt rush to order our food. It was odd that the waitress didn’t suggest an appetizer when ordering the drinks she just rushed off. When she FINALLY came back we ordered our appetizer and food (which we had to repeat several times due to her not understanding what we wanted) along with lemons. She came back with limes. All our drinks were empty at this point no chips on the table and she walks off. We finally get the bust boys attention and asked for more chips and LEMONS. He asked are those the yellow or green ones. 🤦🏻♀️ We answered him and he returned with them, filled our drink and chips. At this point we literally have no clue where our waitress is and we look at the bar area and she is sitting at the bar taking shot! Yes you read that correctly. When our food was delivered it wasn’t warm, you could tell it had been sitting for a bit. This is truly the worst experience we have ever had at this place and it truly bums me bacause it’s literally the ONLY Mexican food place my husband will eat at and now he is not to thrilled to return. But I think he is annoyed that y’all are charging $3.00 for a topo-Chico. I understand marking up for profit but these things literally are 1.39 at a gas station. I hope that the service and food can get back on track so we can come and...
