I've edited my review a little after they reached out to me. It was good to talk to Carter. Suds is a local business here in Dripping and they really want customers to have the best experience possible. I really appreciate that.
They mentioned that my pizza order wasn't up to their standards and I'd have a better experience when I come back next time. I'll take them up on that.
First visit here. I like the open atmosphere, no AC which is fine for an evening that's not too hot.
We went for pizza and heard good things so I thought it was worth a shot. We ordered cheese sticks and a large double pepperoni. My kids love cheese sticks and I was surprised they didn't like these, they were different that what we were expecting. The pizza was a thin crust, but was on the greasy side, apparently due to a garlic sauce they add.
Everything appears to be self-service. When you order pizza at the bar you pick it up at the counter, all boxed up. My pizza wasn't cut very well, and I found there weren't any plastic knives or anyone to talk to when I picked up my order.
There's a tendency today with touchpad tipping that I find annoying. The suggested tip of 22.5% was auto-selected (20/22.5/25%). I find this aggressive considering I the only interaction I had with staff was placing my order. I suggest a 15% tip by default.
If you like music, want to eat and drink outside, it's probably cool. I wasn't impressed...
Read moreI first want to say, I normally don’t come across negative experiences here in the Dripping Springs food scene. I grew up in the area and have loved seeing the growth that has happened. I came a few years ago with my parents and loved the experience; today was different.
My partner and I order two beers, the BLT, and the 6 piece buffalo chicken rolls. Our total plus tip came out to $50. When we got our food (phenomenal wait time) my rolls were perfect, but the BLT was below-average and the fries were burnt. When my partner brought it up to the female manager on deck, she said “I’ll refund it” but nothing else…it was very off putting.
On top of that, the bartenders (two males) seemed like they absolutely hated their job and that we were an inconvenience. Now, I was in the food service industry for 5 years and definitely feel their struggles, but if your pay is based on tips, that isn’t how you serve to make a paycheck.
We had a day off together for the first time in a while and wanted to try out somewhere we haven’t been in together, so that is how we decided on Suds. I have heard amazing things and had super high expectations.
After today, I’m not sure we will be returning. Other than the beer and my rolls, it was not a...
Read moreFor our first time there, we were absolutely disappointed. We had hoped for a family friendly atmosphere that had both indoor and outdoor settings, but it definitely seemed like unless you were a regular you weren't really a priority. The only kid friendly things were pool (which the regular kids occupied the entire time of our visit), and sugary sodas. I asked about ordering a mug that I had seen others drinking, and the server just asked if I was a mug club member, then when I said no she said then I couldn't have one. No explanation of what the mug club was or how to become a member. That was honestly just the sour customer service part of it. The atmosphere was horrible. It was reading 102° outside, there was zero air conditioning inside the buidling, the 2 industrial fans inside were pointed at one table (the regulars who had mug club status). Think Texas August triple digits, a garage type industrial building, zero climate control, get my drift? Or literally lack thereof. One way to make you order more drinks I guess. We 10 out of 10 don't recommend and won't be back. And we love visiting family friendly breweries all over the area and have yet to have a bad experience at any of them, besides...
