Tasty Pho Sushi Bar — Restaurant in Texas

Update (04-30-2019): 3rd time the charm???!! YASSSS IT IS!!! I got the same waiter as last time and the difference was like night and day. He was efficient & friendly. Of course the food was still flavorful. Great job on the improvement of staff efficiency! I'm impressed.

The first time I came the service was extremely slow, but the food had a great flavor. Tonight, I decided to try it again. I arrived 6:36p, ordered a water and appetizer. Water came in 1 minute, another waiter asked if I was ready to order I requested 5 minutes more. The waiter graciously gave me 5 minutes and even extra time that I did not want (only after realizing he forgot about me while cleaning another party's table) my order was taken at 7:15p (no appetizer delivered). I ordered a vegetable pho with chicken and the same appetizer I requested earlier. At 7:32p, I got a pho, no vegetables. I mentioned it to my waiter, he apologizes saying that he forgot, and walks away. I am thinking it was to fix my order...NOPE...15 minutes pass still no appetizer nor the pho I requested. I cordially walked to the cashier and explained what happened, expressed my disappointment in the service, and let them know my incorrect pho was untouched on the table and I left. I did get a small grimmace and apology. So it's now 7:46p and I must say the ice water tonight was refreshing and everyone that arrived after me was enjoying their meals that came before mine. (Theirs correct I assume.) The service is horrible and I hope it improves with time. Even though I am disappointed in the service I received two times, I will say that the waiters are hard-working, that is the only reason I did not give it 1 star. I wish they would make the order RIGHT and not just leave the wrong order there in front of me without offering to correct it. I don't know if the 3rd time is the charm or if I am willing to...

House special fried Shrimp cake (9$),: crunchy but very plain. Has pickled carrots but that's wasn't enough. Wouldn't order at all since it's very bad.

House combination fried rice (14$): something is off with it, but it 100% needs soy sauce. Ate the whole thing but left me wondering with each bite what is off with it, I blame the peas and shrimp.

Pho dac biet (special combination beef soup, 14$): light beef broth (... I liked it, but would turn off people who have ate other restaurants and home made stuff as it's very diluted flavor). Would order again as long as they have siracha

Their condiments (beans sprouts, mint, lettuce, pickled carrots) were very fresh and crisp.

Sushi: spicy mayo very good and unagi sauce is even better, no wonder why everyone loves the spider roll...

Dragon roll(11$): it's a California roll with unagi sauce, it's good.

Spicy salmon rol (11$)l: it's ok

Overall, if I was looking for unagi sauce sushi and pho dac biet I would come back. If you're not ordering these. I would not recommend it.

Typically I rate stuff a 5 even if it's pretty average. The issue why this place gets a 4 is because of mediocre service (having to ask for napkins), some bad food options, and that we saw a couple and their kid come in. They gave only the kid food and didn't give their parents their food...

There is a reason why restaurants wait before all the food is ready before giving it out. Very poor service and is not acceptable to let the kid be finish their food without the parents even being able...

It was okay, portions were good for the price, flavors of the different things we ordered were ok, but after my husband had Chicken Kung Paw and I had Special Fried Rice, my stomach didn’t tolerate that food very good, I was sick until next day and burping badly with very bad acid reflex. We are some kind of crab food, we don’t know if it was real crab, and that was making it worse for me. We are not sure what kind the oils or spices they use for cooking, but, I love Chinese and Asian food in general, (no sushi for me at all) but all the other things Asian prepared are usually very tasty and I never had any stomach reaction. Not sure if I’m just allergic to any of the products this particular restaurant use. That didn’t happen to me before with this kind of food. We also had our sodas and we ask for refill and they run out of soda just in the middle of lunch time!!! They had bottles and cans of soda and they could serve us those, but they didn’t even offer any alternative.
