What a horrible experience! I was craving some pie. Apparently, the folks in Montgomery, Texas are not much into pies because very few places actually serve pie here, but I found out through a simple Google search that Magnolia Diner supposedly serves pie, so I took a break and drove there to pick up some pie for me and my coworkers. When I got there, the hostess gave me a breakdown of all the pies they offer, so I ordered some for me and my coworkers. I also ordered a club sandwich because I was a little hungry. She told me it would take about fifteen minutes, so I decided to make the most of my time and run to Kroger to pick up some drinks for everyone to go with our pie. When I returned, the hostess informed me that they had no pies. None. So, out of the key lime pie, chocolate pie, coconut pie, and the various types of cheesecake, somehow they had zero pies left. That would've been nice to know before I wasted half an hour of my day traversing the ridiculous traffic lights and silly school zone level speed limits through town, foolishly thinking that pie was an attainable thing. I was refunded for the pies, and I left with my club sandwich, and to complete the experience, my club sandwich was not hot and the bread was soggy. It was terrible. I ate a quarter of it, sealed it back in the bag, and now it sits on my floorboard in my truck waiting to get home so I can feed it to my dogs. This was my second time eating here. The first was years ago as I drove through town, and it was mediocre at best then, but I figured that it would be pretty tough to screw up a pie. Sure enough, they couldn't even do that right, either. What kind of diner doesn't have pie? Any pie? Don't they realize that when a customer has a bad experience, they lose that customer's future business, and that effect is cumulative over time as more and more people with bad experiences add up? Pie is one of the few things that should be an easy win for any diner, but not if they don't even serve them, and especially if they make you wait for fifteen minutes only to tell you that there are no pies out of the plethora of pies they just told you they had fifteen minutes earlier. After an experience like this, there is no way anyone in their right mind would ever give a place another chance. I'm sorry, but a person's time is valuable. Wasting it is intolerable. Having to return to the office and explain to waiting coworkers that pie is virtually unattainable in this town is...
Read moreWhen placing an order to-go, we requested a specific item 3x. When the entire order was read back, it was incorrect. We requested the item a 4th time.
My spouse brought the order home and (shockingly)... It was incorrect. I called the diner, and was told by the employee who took down the phone order that she thought I ordered something else. (Even though it was ordered once, and confirmed another 3x.) Then, the employee mentioned that the computer is unable to change the side order.
I replied that I was not trained in Magnolia Diner's software system, and that the error was clearly my mistake. I asked how we might avoid the snafu in the future, and the phone was passed to another employee (with no one having the courtesy to mention this was taking place).
I was cheerfully told that--to avoid such issues in the future, upon pickup, we should:
-Remind the employee of what we ordered
-Have the employee open the boxes and to-go bag, to confirm their content, and
-Ask the employee to make sure that the kitchen did not make too much and accidentally throw away the item (instead of just including what we ordered).
Long story, short...?
Be prepared to babysit if you want to ensure you receive what you paid for. And remember, boys and girls...asserting that minimum wage should be raised to $15/hour makes you look foolish. EMT's earn roughly $15/hour.
They save lives, which is considerably more difficult than picking up a...
Read moreMy wife, son and neighbor arrived about 10min before I did. They ordered drinks and waited for me. I get there and the waitress comes over and ask me what I would like to drink. I ordered a drink. Mind you it is dead in the restaurant. Then we all have her our order. 15 min later she brings my side salad. There is no dressing with it. I said can I have some ranch please. She brought that a few minutes later. Iâm almost done with my salad and realize I hadnât got my drink. I asked 2 different people for a drink including my waitress. She finally brinks my drink with all of our orders. We ordered chicken fried steak. She brings this sad over cooked steak with no gravy. We asked her for gravy and looked at us like we were crazy. But she did go and get 3 bowls of gravy. She never asked what kind of gravy. I did not eat my dinner. I was so irritated I just wanted to leave. She brings the bill and I give her cash and she says, â Do you want your change?â Of course I do. I would never give her a tip. And at the end she makes sure to tell us itâs her first day. If I owned this restaurant it would...
