If you want to enjoy solid Thai food you better try this place out fast. Good Asian food rarely lasts long, so enjoy this fleeting star while it lasts. There was a pretty heavy take out scene while we were there, so if that's your style - that option is good as well.
We came for an early-ish dinner on Saturday and were surprised that there was only one other seated table in the small, but stylish restaurant. By the time we left, it was almost full so perhaps we were just there too early. There's about 3 2-tops, 3 4-tops and 2 6. Gives you an idea of the space.
It was a two person operation. Owner/man(?) was the back kitchen and the owner/woman(?) ran the front of the shop. She was a highly attentive waitress, incredibly kind and by the time we left incredibly busy.
We started off with a very flavorful soup broth that they brought us with bits of cucumber in it. Then our appetizer arrived which was over the top good. The A1. Por-Pia Tod was described as a "Popular Thai Fried Spring Rolls". They were not volcanic hot which was good. I feared that they were fresh from the frier. But they were just very good fried spring rolls of whatever local. Next up I had the G3. Massaman Gai Curry with Chicken. I thought it was very well done with chicken, potatoes and a side of rice. Massaman Curry is always my go to curry and I enjoyed this take on it.
Overall a great time and I look forward to returning to try out more...
Read moreWe always like to find small local joints to try out the food. This one did not disappoint. Emily was our server and she was wonderful. The decor and atmosphere are very chill. We had the hummus to start. It was, hands down, the best hummus I’ve ever had. It was a garlic hummus with pistachios on top. We both had the fruit salad and soup. The salad was a delicious, refreshing bowl of spinach, blueberries, Strawberries and raspberries. Topped with goat cheese and candied walnuts. But the best part was the homemade raspberry vinaigrette. Lastly, was the chicken and dumplings broth. Immediately I noticed that the chef took the time to slightly sear the chicken before putting it in the soup. They always say you eat with your eyes first. Next the dumplings were homemade not biscuits from a can. Even though it was a hot, July afternoon the soup went down well. Incredible flavor. What a great place. I’m so...
Read moreIf you're looking for an exceptional Thai dining experience, The Grove Thai Food in San Marcos is a must-visit! I recently had the pleasure of dining there, and it was delightful from start to finish.
The spring rolls were incredibly fresh and packed with flavor, setting the tone for a fantastic meal. The Pnanang curry was rich and aromatic, offering a beautiful blend of spices that was simply delicious. However, the star of the show for me was the Pad See Ew—absolutely amazing! The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the stir-fry had just the right amount of sweetness and smokiness.
The ambiance is welcoming, and the staff is friendly and attentive, making the overall experience even more enjoyable. I highly recommend The Grove Thai Food for anyone craving authentic Thai cuisine. I can’t wait to go...
