I don’t like to leave negative reviews but I think this one is warranted. Two years ago their burgers were out of this world. Sadly this place just isn’t what it used to be and it’s also a shame as the owner is an incredibly nice and friendly man.
They moved locations about a year and a half ago to a CVS off of Slaughter and since then it has gone downhill. I went to their new location twice. Owner wasn’t there either time and my burgers were just plain bad. The first time I chalked up the bad burger to an off day for the cook and let it go. The second time I noticed that the burger had been changed and it just didn’t taste or feel like the same quality burger from years past in spite of the fact that the price had increased to $16+ for burger/fries w/tax. I figured that would be my last visit.
They then moved location again to a bar off of Menchaca; and, today, against my better judgment, I decided to give them another chance. That’s literally how good the burgers used to be! I was hopeful but totally let down. Owner wasn’t there this afternoon. I ordered online and picked up my burger and sure enough the patty was burnt to a crisp, had virtually no taste/seasoning, and the bun was doughy. The fries were under seasoned and nothing to write home about.
Hopefully the owner gets better help and is able to turn this...
Read moreI came to Lustre Pearl for a different food truck but it had closed early, so I ended up getting the Honey Lime Chicken sandwich- and boy was I glad! This is a crazy food grilled chicken sandwich! The chicken was generous and so juicy and flavorful, with a hefty amount of Brie and some nice greens (could have used more greens but hey it was tasty), and even some surprise chips on the side! My friends got the hamburgers and they seemed to enjoy them but I was too deep in my sandwich to notice much lol! The truck didn't seem too busy and it took maybe 10 minutes for my sandwich to come out but I wasn't paying too close attention to the clock.
We also got the fried pickles which are very unique- instead of just breaded slices/spears they wrap the pickle with cheese in a wonton wrapper or something along those lines and deep fry the package. I’d say in general I prefer the standard fried pickle as I’m crazy about them, but for a fun and different take on it I enjoyed them!
Couldn’t try the fries a they were sold out of them (6:30 on a Sunday so not exactly...
Read moreOutdoor area that would be great on a cooler day and if you wanted to bring your dog. We went on a 103• day and it was a hot miserable wait for the food. This place, to us, is meh. Because of the price we have to give it 3 star. Felt the burger as a whole was dry I’m thinking due to the bun. The bun seems like it’s a croissant type bread which I typically like. Maybe it needed more condiments. I got the 1st St and it was ok, overall the family says theirs was ok but nothing great. The fries were good though. I think people should check it out to see if it’s for them and now that we did we won’t be back as we were...
