Coming from the northeast side where my most "frequent" (2 or 3 visits in a few months) drink establishment was Main Street bar, this place (The Rusty Nail) was laid back and a super chill experience. The drinks were great and the staff were attentive, which is nice because I get kind of overwhelmed feeling like I'm pestering the bartenders if I'm constantly waiting at the bar for something. Their back patio was a total surprise and they did great with laying out the tables with the limited space. Not that I'm an interior designer and know anything about that fancy stuff - BUT I didn't feel cramped and that's what I want to convey. I liked that it didn't feel like a "country bar". Idk, I've gone to Serna's with work colleagues on numerous occasions and it felt too outback to me. I've lived in SA my whole life but this is my first time living outside of the North/Northeast side and at times this far outside the city limits makes me feel like it's nothing but cattle farmers and lifted truck/boot wearin'/country blasting folk. It's cool to find a space that gives a little bit of both the SA city feel and middle of nowhere vibe. So if you're a 20 something to early 30 year old looking for a legit chill bar to hang at, I would refer you to this establishment.
Last point: I had their fried pickles and their queso blanco with chips. Both were typical bar food quality, but chips and queso and fried pickles are hard to F- up, you know? (My all time FAVORITE fried pickles are from Alamo Draft house, for comparison. Their fried pickled spears...
Read moreMy review of my experience last night followed by the Owners response. I had only had 2 drinks wasnt drunk or even intoxicated at all. I was also only there for 1.5 hours, in which time i and my date only had 2 drinks each. Neither of us were anywhere close to being intoxicated. Yet the owner wants to lie and state via their response that i was stumbling around and we were drunk. LOL. Yet as he stated i did previously work there, and this review isnt by any means a way to bash the bar or staff, i greatly enjoy this bar think its refreshing for the neighborhoods around to have a local bar to go to. Simply reviewing my recent visit. Drinks are a lil pricey but its a great bar. The owner os trying to act as though im attempting to bash his establishment which isnt the case. Simply stating my service recieved yesterday and the establishment wasn't even busy. But i respect his response even less, him trying to bash my character stating i was stumbling drunk last night. In which case shouldn't that look bad on him and his staff for still allowing me to drive home and not reccomending a rideshare. To again prove i wasnt stumbling or drunk and was never informed i cutoff. Again 2 drink in an...
Read moreI went to the rusty nail today with my sister to celebrate veteran’s and day bc she served over 17 years in the military. only to receive pretty much THE WORST customer service ever. No one came to wait on our table. We continuously had to go to the bar to get our food and drinks. We also had to ask more than one time for several things. The food was garbage and It was not busy at all. We were told by Christopher Larsen, whom is a regular there, and claims to be bffs with Daniel (the owner), that we received the worst customer service ever because the ppl that worked there knew who we were, and bc Chris did not want us to have a good time. Chris also said that he texted the owner Daniel and told him to make sure we did not have a good time. Well, they were successful. We will never go back and will never recommend anyone to this bar. Also, it smelled like straight up shit in the restaurant/bar. Fix your plumbing. No one wants to smell shit while they’re trying to eat and have a good time. I would give this place ZERO stars...
