Boss Authentic Thai Kitchen — Restaurant in The Dalles

I was optimistic when I heard a new place showed up in The Dalles. I wasn’t a huge fan of our other option. Unfortunately, despite the reputation of their relatives Thai Food Truck in Hood River I had an extremely disappointing experience. I ordered chicken Pad Thai and the chicken was off. Slightly rancid which was the case in all the chicken dishes I ordered. It is also not the darker colored Pad Thai like their relatives truck, which is my favorite type. I also had chicken basil fried rice, again with the off chicken and they oddly don’t fry the rice and they keep the main ingredients separate from steamed rice in a sort of sauce you put on the rice, I didn’t like it. Pad Kee Mao, again with the chicken, otherwise would have been ok. Tom Yum soup which was actually pretty good but had whole basil leaves in it, which I have never had in Tom Yum soup and didn’t like the texture of. I think after the rancid chicken, soggy, wrinkled basil just caused me worry. Also worth noting is that I actually would have ordered beef in at least one of the dishes but they don’t have beef and they have bbq pork but not standard pork, which is weird to me for Thai food. Last but not least, they are more expensive with smaller portions than the brick and mortar Thai restaurant in town and more expensive their relatives food truck...

The place has the best Thai food AND drinks from The Dalles to Portland. I found this place looking for my regular restaurant. This place is our new regular spot. The great people who run this restaurant allowed us to try their secret family recipe pho. It was amazing and I highly recommend it. It's not on the menu but ask for the secret noodles. You will not be disappointed. They served us coconut water in a fresh young sweet coconut. It was delicious. Their butterfly flower tears fantastic. We had to go back for more drinks. This is the place for pad thai, pho, drinks and try what they recommend. Thank you Boss Authenic Thai Cuisine! Well done!!! I would drive 50 miles to pho van palace. This is better!! I cannot recommend this truck restaurant enough!!! The food here is the best Thai I've ever had, and I'm so grateful they've set up shop in an area with such little diversity to begin with.

While the food is incredible, the mother/son duo who run the truck are the best part about visiting. They're ALWAYS so kind and have nothing but warm smiles and kind words to offer anyone who stops by. Their positivity is truly infectious and the love for what they do is obvious in the quality of their food.
