I recently had the displeasure of staying at the Holliday Inn Express in The Dalles, Oregon on September 22nd and 23rd. My experience was far from what I would expect from a reputable hotel chain, and I regret to say that I cannot recommend this establishment.
Upon arriving, my initial customer experience was disheartening. The staff members at the front desk appeared indifferent and unhelpful when I requested to add my AARP member number to my reservation. Their lack of enthusiasm and willingness to assist left a sour taste in my mouth. What's more, they failed to provide any information about the property's amenities or services. It seemed as though they were more interested in their personal phones and chatting among themselves rather than attending to guests.
My dissatisfaction did not end at check-in. Upon entering our room, we were met with a disheartening sight. The bathroom and shower were clearly in need of cleaning. It was evident that the housekeeping staff had not adequately prepared the room for our arrival. This oversight raised significant concerns about the overall cleanliness and hygiene of the property.
The disappointment continued into the morning when we visited the breakfast area. The tables were left uncleared and dirty, creating an uninviting and unsanitary environment. This lack of attention to cleanliness was alarming, especially during these times when hygiene should be a top priority.
In conclusion, our stay at the Holliday Inn Express in The Dalles, Oregon, was far from satisfactory, especially considering the rate we were charged. Premium prices should equate to a premium customer experience, and unfortunately, this was not the case during our stay. The unenthusiastic staff, subpar cleanliness, and neglect of basic hospitality standards have left us deeply disappointed. We will not be recommending this hotel to others, nor will we choose to stay here again...
Read moreCouldn't be happier! I had wonderful overnight stay. Wish I coukd have stayed a couple more nights! The hotel must have just recently opened because everything from floor to ceiling wall to wall appeared to be new.
The room I was afforded was absolutely state of the art and spotlessly clean. There was a big screen television. Nice selection of local and cable channels. Several USB charge ports. A work desk and chair. Of course free Wi-Fi. A lounge chair. Mini fridge. Microwave. A coffee machine with amenities. Clothing storage. Ironing board and iron. And my favorite. A big cushy bed with fresh linens and multiple pillows. The shower was supremely large. Glass sliding doors. Large lighted vanity mirror. They supplied shampoo, body wash and cream rinse in pump dispensers. In addition they provided multiple floor, facial, wash and body towels. And, a blow dryer.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. Even the housekeeping staff was friendly and cordial. In fact, I arrived a bit before check in time so room's were still being prepared for guest's. The host apologized several times for not having a room ready. But I kept reassuring her that everything was fine and there was no need to hurry. Since it was just after lunch and I hadn't eaten I got great advice on a local restaurant just down the road. By the time I returned they had a room ready for me.
The location is at the south end of town off the main road. They're not too far from the freeway exit. So no problems finding them. My room was located at the end of the hall on the second floor. I had a really nice view of the hills south of town.
Being mid week it was very quiet. Even when guest's started showing up later in the evening the noise levels including bumps, thumps, televisions and conversations were practically unnoticeable.
Bottom line. Great people, rooms and location. Definitely worth a...
Read moreWe paid 200 a night per room. When we went to breakfast they were out of all essentials and it wasn’t very crowded. They were out of biscuits and gravy, eggs, pancakes, cinnamon rolls, there was only a scrap of oatmeal left that was in large dry clumps that no one was eating. The drink machine was being worked on so coffee was the only drink available. There was an employee that announced to the people waiting in line that more food was coming. After about 10 minutes she brought out eggs. They were burnt. Several people had a look a them and walked off. Several minutes later she brought out gravy but didn’t bring out biscuits. While she was out there she took the opportunity to stir the oatmeal. After she did that more people went to look at it, turned and walked away.
When I went to the front desk to check out I explained I wasn’t satisfied as we didn’t get breakfast and I have to take my family out and pay for a breakfast I already paid for with this hotel. She just said “I’m sorry”. I asked about a discount to compensate and she said I would have to call the corporate number. I called them and they said to call the hotel.
The lady that checked us in was very nice. Staff was friendly rooms were clean.
They apparently allow pets as a dog was barking every time someone got off the elevator at night.
On my way out another guests stopped me after overhearing the conversation at the front desk, he said “you didn’t get breakfast either huh?”
Then made a comment about the price and how ridiculous it was.
I would not have put a negative review on here and online if when I addressed my concerns I was compensated for the lack of food built into the price. Anything would have meant they cared other than “I’m sorry” with no action taken.
200 a night per room and you get barking dogs and no guarantee...
