We wanted to like this place, but the customer service is the end will have us never return. Coffee was just ok. Better than Starbucks and the like, but not the best coffee around. We walked in (first time going) and was quickly greeted...by everyone. When we walked up to the counter, we didn't even get the chance to look at the menu before being bombarded with questions about what we like. It was obvious the girl was just trying to interact and help us decide, no biggie. We placed our order and swiped our card. This is where it quickly went bad. I'm not sure why someone at a register who is not waiting on me feels entitled to a tip. I never tip at a counter. The second the girl flipped the screen around and saw no tip, her attitude went to straight trash. She was extremely rude, suddenly didn't want to talk, much less answer a question, and short of tossing our drinks at us was able to make it known we were wasting her time. Unfortunate for the people in the back, as we left, one shouted out to "have a good day", to which we didn't reply. Not sure if she didn't care or wasn't told we didn't tip, cause no one else said a peep. That's exactly why we don't tip unless you're waiting on us. You want to get an extra something on top of a $7 coffee?? I have a tip! Lower your prices, seat people and serve them on foot, and don't break attitude when things don't go as you hoped. If you don't like the wage you make then find a new job. It's simple. We are all given options on what to do in life and one shouldn't expect a tip for every credit card swipe that happens at a counter. We will never return and have told numerous people of our experience who agree and won't go either. There's a nice cafe less than a mile away that has better coffee and pastries (Italian joint) for less and way better customer service. Absolute trash! Lucky to get two stars. Thank the random girl in the back...
Read moreI absolutely LOVE the atmosphere at First Cup Coffee!!! It’s serene, peaceful and restful. The down-tempo and Lo-Fi instrumental music is really pretty and helps keep things calm for people that want to come study, work or have quiet conversations. ————————————————————————- *My thoughts on how it is NOW….compared to the place that USED to be here:
It’s SOOOOO much better than the place that was here before!!! 🥰
BEFORE First Cup, the place that was here drew in a lot of homeschool moms….so there used to be way too many little children everywhere….i mean, a lot! It was too much! It was nerve-wracking, annnoying and loud. 😒 It used to be like trying to relax and study or enjoy your coffee but in a “daycare”. Very much a turn-off. Most of the negative reviews on here are from those people who loved that “daycare” like environment.😐 ————————————————————————-
NOW, with First Cup here, it’s peaceful and welcoming….the kind of place that makes you WANT to come by everyday and just envelop yourself in the environment. ☺️
The croissants and empanadas are delicious and the Cortados and iced coffees are my favorite. 🥐☕️🍪🧋🍵
The backyard is beautiful with lots of lush greenery and many places to sit & enjoy nature. 🌿🌸🍂🌱🌺
I highly recommend this wonderful coffee shop!!! It feels like a restful OASIS where the customer service is perfectly balanced, food & drinks are well made and the vibe & atmosphere is comforting &...
Read moreI was really excited to try this coffee Unfortunately my expectations fell flat. We purchased both The Lexington and The Farrow at your Oak Ridge Dr location. The beans I received out of both bags are medium roast and unfortunately there was still plenty of chaff, which became even more apparent after grinding.
Dark roasted coffee should have developed an oily sheen and the flavors are bolder with a more full bodied mouthfeel. I found neither to be the case with these two coffees, both had beans that were matte and lighter in appearance than what I am used to. Both tasted better than retail coffee (Folgers, Maxwell House) of a comparable roast level, but not good enough to warrant me paying $20 per pound.
For comparison, the beans at the bottom of the photo are from a national roaster and have a roast level of about an 8 to 9. I'd rate The Lexington about level 5 and The Farrow about level 6.
I am not trashing your business, the people I know who like to hang out there love your service, atmosphere, food and beverages. I just wish you had a dark roast that I would enjoy.
