I can’t list many positives. Our server was very sweet not very well trained but tried. The food is relatively inexpensive. We walked in and almost walked out but it’s close to our house and we are new to the area and want to find places we can walk to. So unfortunately we stayed. It was chaotic not because it was really busy but just messy and uncoordinated. We noted several tables with dirty dishes with no patrons. Finally a couple of ladies came out sloppy looking old clothes with what looked like a bin you come out of the hospital with and cleared them. Took several minutes to be acknowledged by our server. We almost left after finally getting our drinks but really wanted to try. The patrons were mostly teenagers and unruly loud poorly dressed people. As we sat there two tables for up and left after being seated and looking around. They were smart. The food was mediocre at best and we saw many many to go orders waiting to be picked up by one drivers right at the front by the hostess stand. The bar has potential it could be nice but they are more concerned and proud of their huge empty bottle display of various liquor. There were boxes of napkins or whatever on the bar making it uninviting. Not a single person was sat there and who could blame them. The booths were shabby with cracks and it’s in the pleather upholstery. The menus were dirty and sticky. We finished our meal and sat there finishing our drinks and never a dish cleared. If you ever eat here I suggest...
Read moreI went this location last week with my wife and little baby at around 2PM. When I came in, I felt little untidy vibe. And one guy came to ask order with low voice like a robot. "what can I do for you?" I ordered a sprite, but I think that was not a sprite, it was like a water with little sugar. Anyway, first, we felt shocked due to the price for lunch menu. Most of food are over $1215. And we expected that it will be good sushi and sashimi. I ordered almost $18 20 just for lunch with expectation. And I saw my dish. It was IMPOSSOBILE FOOD FOR ME. I am KOREAN and I ate several times sushi in KOREA and JAPAN and US, even SINGAPORE, and HONGKONG. HOWEVER, I CAN TELL IT, THIS LOCATION IS WORST IN MY WHOLE LIFE. I am over 35. I think I know very well about sushi because I like sushi and sashimi. BUT here's sushi and sashimi can't sell any place in the world, EXCEPT U.S.A. American rarely tried to eat raw fish and they do not try to distinguish which fish is delicious and which part of fish is the best. That is why we just can order TUNA and SALMON. I mean people just distinguish using color, not a taste. Anyway, actually I want to give ZERO star for sushi and sashimi in this restaurant. But hibachi(?) is good. So, NEVER ORDER SUSHI and SASHIMI. I ate it and I swear that I NEVER visit again here until I am back. PLEASE DON'T ORDER ANY RAW FISH. Oh, after I ate 1 piece of California roll, I left the rest of...
Read moreThis was my first experience at Shogun. I was going with some friends that also like Sushi which I don't always eat. From the minute we sat down we were treated very well. All the staff were friendly and professional. They even offered to make me sushi like I like it since my preference was not on the menu. Oh my, awesome! I also opted for the steak and scallops, with the fried rice. Needless to say lunch is going to be leftovers tomorrow. 😁 The soup was my least favorite item, and that is only because I found it a little bland, everything else I would order again anytime.
Let's face it I'm American enough to recognize that to a true Japanese food snob, the food and Atmosphere is not true Japanese but an Americanization/fusion that we've come to expect of Asian restaurants here. That said there wasn't a buffet where rolls, or sashimi were an afterthought and everything is prepared in advance. They had a significant menu, with regard to both. And as I said they willingly made me some not normally on their menu. And for those new to Japanese food, don't worry, the menu in the restaurant will tell you exactly what ingredients go inside/on top the various rolls. Just be warned, like all sushi, if unsure take very small tastes lest you end up eating Wassabi or fresh ginger by...
