The theme of the place is skulls and the atmosphere was dead to match. No music no TV. Bartender was more interested in her computer to even earn a tip. Ordered an horchata that she filled the bottom up with the rice, didn't even apologize. If making us feel like you didn't want us to return was your goal. Mission accomplished. Food was burnt & rubbery. Soup corn. We threw it in the garbage. Sorry for the bad review but don't worry we won't return. Thanks I Looked thru all your multiple negative reviews and u blame it on staff but I literally watch ur entitled staff and the owner act as if we were unimportant!!?? After spending $60 on ur garbage food! I left your establishment unhappy because even though your employee found no desire to interact with Her customers I found joy in being positive with ur customers, who also desired interaction!!!!!Something you and your staff have no desire in creating! An upbeat positive reaction to everyone that chooses you over making a great, REAL Mexican meal at home.Good luck...u obviously need it with ur staff and your chef! Hey restaurant responder don't be derogatory to me I'm giving you free advice.🤗.Get off your computer! 💯INTERACT WITH THE PEOPLE THAT PATRONIZE UR BUISNESS💯...just becuz pple choose happiness after ur horrible service doesnt mean YOU created that!!!!!💯💯Go ahead judge me.say i BURNT the food🤣🙃...just keeping what yall made me FEEL real.....good day all....🤑 Wondering why you erased your response restaurant responder??? Aren't you proud that you blamed me receiving dry, nasty, overpriced food on me?😄😁😆😅🤣 Horrible food and horrible staff to match... Dead just like your theme!! 😊

My husband and I were huge fans of The Cheel so we were excited to find out they opened another restaurant while Cheel recovered from its fire. You can order for dine in or pick up via the drive through. Dine in is ordered at the bar then seat yourself. We started with margaritas and their spiciest salsa (they have five that berry in heat). The margarita was authentic tasting but not too strong. My husband isn't big on spice but the heat doesn't linger so he enjoyed the hottest salsa. The menu has you choose your protein then style of dinner: burrito, salad, protein bowl, 3 tacos. We ordered the lamb birria and pork tacos. The lamb birria was served with consome from the stew and there was melted cheese between the two tortillas. Typically I don't like double tortillas but the flavor of the protein wasn't overshadowed by too many carbs. I love the addition of pineapple too the pork taco. There was not a lot of seating inside but the patio seating was abundant. We took our final round outside to listen to the band Jack and Jill Jazz that plays there every Thursday this month and next. The sound level was perfect, not too loud but we could understand the lyrics. They had one server and one bartender. They were both friendly and gave us a nice history of the business and updates on Cheel. Despite the dinner rush, we were served quickly. They have an impressive business model and we cannot wait to continue supporting this new business!

Our first time here. So very, very pleased we came here. The food is divine! I knew it would be because it’s the same owners as the former The Cheel, which sadly succumbed to a fire a few years back. We had the Lamb Birria which was, truly, the most beautiful tacos I’ve ever had. Corn tortillas, filled with lamb and cilantro (no cheese for me but it does come with it normally), hard pressed so they’re a little crispy and served with a bone broth dip. Utter delight. And the guava margarita is perfect! Not too sweet. Just delicious. Something I’m sure to make use of in the colder months is the drive through. You can order online and pick up in a drive through! Even the margaritas can be picked up. Daily Taco is wonderful.

Tacos are great. Authentic tacos are better. Seriously was excited when this was featured on 6 news. Wanted the place to prevail considering what happened at the Cheel. Why can't the North shore just do it right? With anything it seems? We want to keep our money where we live but...

Grease. City.

Birra was greasy gristly and the shells were fried in so much oil it was near inedible. I'm sorry but this is honest. Flavor was lacking as well. The wagyu tacos lacked flavor and the doubled corn tortillas were not necessary. They weren't the real deal authentic tortillas with flavor. Think soft corn Ortega. I almost feel bad saying this but we wanted it to be good but won't be back.

The best thing was the lemon smoky margarita .. something in Mexico something it was called. Regardless, I've never felt uncomfortably full for hours after two tacos but the oil and amount of gistly beef was too much for either entree we shared bites of. You also get pickled onion and radish that came in the side was enough for one slice of radish and one onion per taco, I'm not even kidding. They were clearly rashioning ingredients? It was all just odd.

Chips for salsa were homemade and again grease city. Too thick as well. The small cup that the salsa comes in is really downright sad. The containers the food comes in despite dining in or taking out are a waste as they're all disposable. Paper plates would be better in all honesty. Everything was prepackaged in plastic and disposables and felt like cafeteria food.

Staff was nice, friendly and attentive. Food? Total miss. Atmosphere? Meh. And it smelled like packet taco seasoning upon entry. We usually like to try things a second time when they seem off but this one? Sorry. Don't just go somewhere because the hype go for the food stay for the atmosphere....

Can you really put a price on good food, especially if it is Mexican food? Now I have been to a million different Mexican restaurants and Cantinas in my life, but this quaint, busy little place in Thiensville is where it is at. The waitress/bartender/hostess greets you and begins a conversation with you. If you have never been, she explains the menu to you item by item. Give recommendations and is the most pleasant ray of sunshine we have met in forever.

Now the food we ordered: half order of nachos, jalapeños on the side with ground beef. The only negative....NEEDS MORE CHEESE 🧀!! The chips are homemade, fresh and cannot get enough. I don't know if we could have finished a full order just the 2 of us. My wife got a cheese and rice burrito. She loved it and surprisingly ate every bite. She recommends more sour cream inside the burrito and a tad more cheese, but loved every bite. I ordered a steak burrito with rice, beans, onions, cabbage sour cream and cheese. They put the guacamole and Serena salsa on the side. When they brought everything out, mine was accidentally made into a burrito bowl.....but oh well. I was happy with that. The fresh jalapeños from the nachos went on top, the salsa and guacamole as well. They did bring me a freshly grilled burrito shell and I was in heaven. The spices from the salsa and jalapeños made my lips tingle and this protein burrito bowl filled me up and I had to take it home. I never take food home....lol. Our 13 yr old son had the leftovers for dinner and is already begging us to take him there.

You guys have a truly awesome little diamond in the rough with this cantina. We WILL definitely be...
