Thomaston Cafe — Restaurant in Thomaston

We have always been big fans of Thomaston Cafe for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Within the last two months, however, we have encountered a couple of less favorable experiences. On 5 Jan. 13 ladies came for lunch with a reservation. It took 45 mins. for the food to be served with only one waitress. My soup was lukewarm and very pricey ($16 for lobster, corn chowder). Three of us had dinner there just before Christmas - another long wait. Then two of the meals were served and the third dinner sat on the counter between the kitchen and dining room for quite a while until I got the attention of the server who brought the plate over----again very lukewarm. We have also heard from friends who experienced a 20 min. wait just to have their order taken--they walked out. This is all very sad, because the food is delicious with a nice variety and the restaurant is nicely decorated and a very cozy place to enjoy a meal. The wait staff is very pleasant - just not enough of them! Hopefully, the above problems can be fixed so that we may continue to enjoy the Cafe! Connie...

Heading home after a stay in Bar Harbor, we were enjoying the Maine scenery along Route 1, and needed a dining option before we jumped on the interstates. Heading through Thomaston, I caught sight of the Cafe out of the corner of my eye and we pulled in.

The Cafe is one of those places you wish you had in your hometown: Interesting menu; well thought out wine and beer list; warm and welcoming atmosphere; friendly and engaging staff.

I had the fried haddock sandwich and a nice lager from Baxter Brewing and my lovely travelling companion had the caprese burger. Both delicious accompanied by equally tasty fries. I wish we lived nearby since this is the type of place I'd love to work though the menu.

September 10th, MINIs of Maine trekked into Thomaston on our rally event. Ryan and his staff graciously and efficiently served 28 people lunch. We had provided notification days prior and Ryan was more than ready for our group, even creating a special for us, MINI Cooper Sliders! The meals we all shared were varied, including creative fresh salads, awesome burgers, fresh seafood offerings and exceptional deli style sandwiches with a twist. The food was served fresh and timely with everyone enjoying the setting. The staff was friendly and quick, providing exceptional attention to our larger group. We will definitely...
