Carriage House — Restaurant in Thomaston

1000% Amazing! Not sure why it took me so long to visit the Carriage House (I've been a many-times-over beneficiary of Jess's delicioso woodfire pizzas for years), but I finally had lunch there on Sunday and was blown away on many levels - see below. Please go and treat yourself to some delicious food - either there (highly recommend) or for takeaway.

Level ONE: The Carriage House is just so cozy and thoughtfully arranged. It's winter so the courtyard isn't usable, but inside is warm and inviting, with that gorgeous woodfire oven welcoming you in, along with whoever's working the counter. There's long rows of high-top tables encouraging communal seating, as it should be when we eat :)

Level TWO: Food that is above and beyond. Seriously. My boyfriend and I both ordered a second round of bialys, plus cardamom bun, ginger molasses cookie and something else I can't remember because I was too drunk on my first bialy. Go hungry and order one of everything.

Level THREE: There's just something about this place. Or really the things that Jess creates and the people that she attracts. Even the sun seems to pull in toward her from every window. Her little touches are everywhere, her attention to detail is deliberate but not heavy handed. I just can't wait to enjoy some more of...

Uproot catered our Friday night Welcome Party for our wedding weekend for 130 guests on Rockport Harbor. We had pizza (of course), salad and their chocolate cake. The buffet style tables covered with various pizzas were decorated incredibly well and coordinated with our decor.

Since the first Uproot pie I tried years prior, I knew I wanted them to be at our wedding and for our friends and family (many of them native New Yorker's) to experience Jess and team's delicious dough, and their incredible pizza pairings. It means a lot to me to support women-lead and run businesses and you can tell Jess and her team care about their craft, the customers and care about each other. Uproot is the epitome of good vibes all around. Everyone from our wedding is still raving about the pizza. I couldn't recommend them enough for catering (and to also go to the Carriage house, a new date night...

Jess and Uproot are amazing. We hired Uproot to cater our wedding and it was the best decision! Everyone at the wedding (and weeks later) raved about the cheese board and pizza. Not only is the food some of the best pizza you will try, but Jess is a dream to work with. She was quick with communication and answering questions (of which I had many). She was accommodating to our requests for vegan options, and I had people comment that those were their favorite. Jess and her team took care of everything and saw to the little details alleviating a lot of stress for us. They made sure my husband and I were served first, which is a small thing but meant the world so we didn’t forget to eat. If you can’t get them for your wedding, go to their pizza night or visit at a farmers’ market. I highly recommend Jess at Uproot for any event needing catering! Thank you Uproot for amazing food...
