Tony's Coffee Express — Restaurant in Thomaston

We stopped by this shop quick for some coffee before a road trip. We did not have any food so I cannot comment on their menu.

First, the shop itself is a small space but there is plenty of room if you wanted to stay for a but. Definitely not a Starbucks where you would write a book but it definitely was adequate.

The staff was nice enough even though they were a bit quiet. It was hard to tell if we were up in line as there was an awkward silence before our order. But honestly, the service was good for getting our coffee. We definitely did not need anything over the top.

The location is a bit tough as it is easy to pass without realizing where the shop is. But parking is plentiful.

So if everything was good, why the 3 stars? Well in my personal opinion the coffee was just very disappointing. We hear so many rave reviews about the quality and flavor of the coffee but it ended up being just regular coffee from a coffee maker. The flavor was a bit weak and watery for my taste. The iced coffee was also pretty watery. The flavors were present but there was not really a coffee flavor in the way I was hoping for the price I was paying.

Overall, if you do not care about a strong coffee flavor and want something sweet and light, then you may enjoy it more. It just...

Tony’s was recommended to me by someone that raves about their coffee. I was in the area yesterday so I figured I’d give them a shot. I’m not usually a big fan of flavored coffee but I tried the chocolate peanut butter as an iced flavor and I was more than impressed. They have so many options of flavors, so if you like having options, this is the place to go. Unlike other flavored coffees, you can actually taste the flavor in the bean and it’s even better that they don’t use syrups for their flavors! I even went back this morning for another coffee even though I live 20 minutes away. This place is certainly worth the drive! Small hole in the wall breakfast spot. There's a bakery case, counter and a few booths. My kids loved the muffins and donuts, my breakfast sandwich was excellent and the selection of flavored iced coffees was a very pleasant surprise. The baked goods were freshly made from scratch, not the stuff that comes frozen in a box that the coffee chains sell. The staff was amazingly fast but still very friendly. The young man who helped us even gave my kids their treats in their own seperate bags. That made their day. They offer a call ahead option if you're in a hurry.
